Coffee was fantastic here. We stopped for a quick bite for morning tea during work. The guy that made our coffee reminded us that we could have gotten it in cups and plates for our muffins, etc and eaten it off those instead of getting take away and then sitting outside anyway! Duh. Yeah, good point! Lovely spot that’s tucked away with jovial staff. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the prices for their edibles.

Larrikin’s is a relatively new addition to Walsh Bay having only been around for about a year. In a classic case of ‘judging a book by its cover’, until I decided to pay Larrikin’s a visit I had assumed it was simply an Italian restaurant just by the impression I had from the outside tables and chairs. Venture inside and you’ll probably be as surprised as I am. Part café, part restaurant, part bar, this is much more than just an Italian restaurant. Style wise I can’t work out if I am in Italy or Glebe with traditional Italian touches like the red and white table cloths, Italian sweets and homemade lasagna(which is a must try at $ 19) mixed with vintage couches and lounges, vintage books that line the windows and eclectic mix of art that adorns the walls. But the collision of styles make for a place unlike anywhere else in the neighborhood. Larrikins has bohemian vibe that you don’t find in Walsh Bay often. Coffee here is excellent($ 3) and would rival some of the best in Walsh Bay.
