Elysium Lakeside

..we stopped of for a light brunch. ambiance cool, with muso, staff very polite, good service, with excellent panoramic view on the terrace. we were expecting similar standard on the food, but disappointment was au rendez vous. no better than the café on the corner, uninspiring, bland, out of the freezer job. price was not extortionate, that would have added insult to injury. we wont be paying a second visit, unless just for a drink, and wont chance it for a meal out due to anticipating disappointment…

This is a fantastic little bar, the food is always good and tasty. The bar is well stocked and the location and ambience is lovely. Love sitting coming down for a Saturday or Sunday Pint.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere and design of this place; one huge, airy room full of comfortable couches and tasteful décor with large open windows adjoins an expansive deck overlooking a small lake. I was planning to eat so probably should have chosen a table, but on the overcast day it was impossible to pass up being cosy on one of the couches. I sat down and began reading through the menu.
It took me a very long time to decide what to have but eventually I did and proudly walked to the bar to place my order. I am not sure if this is the usual practice but I waited a while for someone to come and take my order before realising that perhaps this was what was expected of me, so either that is the norm or the service was a bit slow that day. When I did place my order the girl informed me that she had forgotten to mention the special; the 200g rump steak with salad and chips was available for just $ 10. My decision making process and gourmet options went down the drain as I decided I couldn’t go past such a bargain.
It was very enjoyable sitting, enjoying my food as the wind howled outside and the clouds threatened to pour down. I highly recommend this place, particularly if you’re after a nice location and pleasant surroundings.
