Gone are the days when this place served up $ 2 rice with gravy of your choice(that meant either sweet & sour or curry). Actually I remember when that only cost $ 1.50. Just right for a student’s small wallet — but then again, students are seemingly getting richer these days. Not all of them, but increasingly more.

When you’re at uni there’s only so many options you can choose from when you have a ten minute break and your stomach is growling at you. At the UTS food court there’s only one Chinese food eatery, New Oriental. I have to say I wasn’t very impressed with the flat noodles that I ordered from there. They serve large quantities but the food itself was tasteless, unless of course you count the flavour that you’d get from the back of a barbecue. At least that’s what it smelled like, just a burnt smoky flavour. I’m not a fan of food that tastes like the pan it’s been cooked in!
