Like every other student, I came here in a hurry to get my thesis bound. The building is small and quaint, and in a good location with public transport nearby.
I was instantly greeted by a very friendly gentleman who quickly and calmly noted down all the details of my order (so many cover colours to chose from!), then brought me over to the computer to transfer my file onto the computer. Took me no more than 5 mins to sort it all out! Brilliant. They have a 24 hr turn-​around (only!?) but knowing it was thesis binding season and that they would be extremely busy with orders, I gave them 48 hours to bind my thesis to reduce their possible stress.
When I came back a couple days later to pick up my thesis I was informed about some problems they had with the lettering on the spine due to the small thickness of my thesis. It’s not their fault and I was happy to pass on the spine lettering.
The quality of my bound thesis is truly beautiful. The wonderful service, quality product, and quick turn-​around really can’t be beaten. I do hope this family run business sticks around for many more years to come.

William Harley Bookbinders is a well known institution amongst Adelaide University students who are madly rushing to finish their PHD or Honours Thesis and need some binding assistance. I was recommended to go here by the staff and students at my university and the experience did not disappoint.
They offer a wide range of soft and hard binding but they also provide one certain type that cannot be found anywhere else. They are the only binders in Australia who sew the spines of the pages together as opposed to using glue which is must faster but not as reliable after a long period of time. The man I spoke to said they do it the traditional way to ensure quality for the customer. During the very busy thesis and PHD ‘handing up’ period they are crazy busy but will work around the clock to make sure they can offer and guarantee to you a 24hr turn-​around for your product. This is so important as it means you can keep typing and working until the very last day and can make the most of your precious time. The store is so tiny you can almost miss it and the office space is the same, but it is one of the highest quality bookbinders you will find in Adelaide.
