Sad is the day when you visit something that used to be good yet has been gradually declining as we do with age. Service was always slow, but on a relatively quiet night? The menu has changed a little and now offerings are plain by a long shot. Mushroom pizza was very hard to swallow, the vegan burger was much better and a pleasant filler. But the new selection of beers and wine makes things hard to connect. A shame as the location is quite nice and nothing beats sitting under those massive grape vines or strolling to the Wheaty for a concert. The DJ needs help though.

Visit the deli regularly as it is one of those little hidden gems. Perfect atmosphere, friendly staff and awesome authentic home cooked food. I always recommend people here and will keep returning.

Searching for a spot for a light night coffee in the thebby area my friends and I decided to check this little number off my Unilocal bookmark list. Wasn’t disappointed! Drove right past it and lucky we doubled back because this cheeky little shopfront is decievingly small and dark only to open up into a huge outdoor area with a charming boho vintage feel. The menu is short and sharp and has tapas, pizzas, burgers and salads with an all day breakfast on offer as well that I’ll be coming back for. We came for coffee but the meals sounded so great we indulged! Though the food sounded heavy we were delighted that there was a focus on fresh and light ingredients, I had the cabbage rolls that were fabulous! My friends had a colossal serving of nachos, the best chicken burger ever and a lovely pizza. Couldn’t fault it so it earnt my five stars, coffee was brilliant as the cherry on top.

I was less than impressed with the food at the Deli. There’s some sort of herb or spice added to most of the food(big breakfast and margarita pizza) that’s not for everyone. The atmosphere, however, that they’ve created is fantastic. I’m a far greater fan of Mister Sunshine’s, just up the road.

I had the deli’s big breakfast recently. The poached eggs were seriously undercooked, salmonella alert! There was a pattie of some kind, can’t remember what is was called, but it had an Indianish flavour. It was so excruciatingly salty I couldn’t eat more than a bite. Not pleasant at all. Not sure id bother again!

Warm service, great atmosphere, beautiful food AND cheap sangria! How can you possibly go wrong??? If you like vines, outdoor dining and fairy lights — The Deli is the place to be :-)

Blink and you’ll miss this hidden gem — something you don’t want to do. Great food in a chilled environment. Satisfying brunch spot — only downside were overdone poached eggs but other than tip top brekky!

A very cool venue, so much to the point when I walked through the door I felt like I was no longer in boring, conservative Adelaide. They don’t have table service but the food is great, staff are friendly and they have a good wine selection — not the stock standard wine distributor list you find in most Adelaide venues. It’s located smack bang in the middle of an industrial zone and would not have had no idea it existed if I wasn’t told about it.

I was introduced to the Deli through a friend earlier this year and have been back several times since… I love the place! Never have I or friends had a bad meal and the prices are very reasonable. The vibe is good and the staff have always been friendly and easy going… Other reviews marked the place down due to the wait but really, it’s a small kitchen and if the place gets busy I think anything under an hour is good! I don’t go here for a quick eat, I go here to hang out, get fed and enjoy the company!

I’m very fortunate to live within walking distance of The Deli, I have visited for both dinner and lunch and love the food and the ambiance on both occasions! Tucked away in an industrial looking street in Thebarton. The Deli looks unremarkable from the outside, but when you walk in, you instantly appreciate everything from the arty décor, retro fittings and funky vibes. By day, you can chill out in the backyard soaking in the rays and wiggle your toes in the sand. Or by night, the area is transformed into a bohemian looking place with red mood lighting, twinkling fairy lights and groovy tunes. Aside from me raving on about just how cool the place looks and feels, the food is also amazing! I’ve had the shared combination platter and pizza with a few mates and the food is top notch! We ordered the chicken strips, eggplant parmigiana, haloumi cheese, crab cakes and spicy patatas and we loved them all! The pizza was also worth a special mention! I came back for brunch and I had the gypsy egg which was something new and exciting for me and my normally fussy companion was so impressed with his big breakfast he wanted to thank the owner in person! So while I’m a little torn between wanting to keep this hidden gem quiet so I can enjoy it without attracting a crowd — I think these guys deserve a special mention. But a note of advice, if coming for dinner and making reservations, they have two sittings, 6 – 8:30pm or 8:30−10pm.

First time here on Saturday lunch time and it was nice. We sat in the outside area and it had a very rustic feel. I enjoyed my pizza toppings as it was everything I would usually add to my pizza so it was great for it to already come as is… Some parts of the base were slightly soggy but only in a few spots but other than that it was nice and crispy. My husband had the deli big breakfast but he thought it was a bit too organic for his liking with the taste(the bacon did have an unusual flavour/spice taste) and the bread did not come with butter not did they ask if we would like any. It was a really chilled out vibe which is ok in general but maybe a bit too relaxed that the wait staff did not even clear up our plates until we left so we had to sit chatting after we had finished with our dirty plates in front of us. I had an enjoyable time on the day but would not be rushing back unless I was in the area or had another entertainment book coupon. Thank you for reading :)

The atmosphere in this wonderful, hidden away restaurant is relaxed, casual, fun & amazingly buzzing. Looking like a cool place with décor you’d find on Pinterest(fairy lights, candles, perfectly mismatched furniture) and great music. The food was actually unbelievable. I can not think of a time when it has been trumped in recent days. I had a pizza & it was the best one I’d ever had. Perfectly charcoaled, amazing flavour — not oily OR dry. Perfect. My partner had the Mexican chicken burger which had tons of chicken & he RAVED about it! We have already ordered dessert & we have planned to come back with friend for birthdays. Hidden in a perfect place where we can easily walk across the road for some live music too. Perfect for a Romantic date or a group of friends! Love.

The Deli, Well, Good for food. The food is nice quality and seems to be very fresh. The Price, Not too bad. quite reasonable. The bad, Takes forever to get food, Took about 45 minutes to get breakfast one day. 2⁄5 for these reasons, Its not bad. But there is better.

Just like your local delicatessen, the Deli has something that will cater for every member of the family. Don’t be disheartened by the industrial locale or the external appearance of this place(like a traditional deli) it is packed full of service, entertainment and any other kind of small meat good you were looking for.* I went for an early breakfast on Sunday and was welcomed with(shock horror): 1) friendly table service; 2) a menu that was full of hearty breakfast options like breakfast pizza, terra cotta egg pots and bacon and egg burgers; 3) no sticky floors or tables from the night before; and 4) a coffee that didn’t taste like it come through a filter. It was all a bit much for me on a Sunday morning as I expected your«typical SA pub,» style food, drink and service but instead received something much more personalised and 5 star delicious! I haven’t been for a Sunday session here or a Saturday night pub band night and as a result don’t feel I can give it 5 stars just yet, but I will be back to try one of their evening nibbles in the sun under the homely vine covered patio and courtyard… * Cannot guarantee small meat goods will be available on the day.

Don’t be deceived by the name, it’s unlike your average deli. It’s a mix of café, restaurant, and live music venue. They serve breakfast, lunch, and live music on Fridays. For breakfast you can get classic morning meals, I really enjoyed the Gypsy eggs. A mix of spicy chorizo and beautifully cooked eggs. Pizzas are fantastic here, they even have a desert style one with a choices of apple, berries, bananas, and mint.

I have been to The Deli now a number of times. My first experience there was so exceptional that my girlfriends and I now choose it to be the place to celebrate our yearly Christmas dinner. The staff are friendly, relaxed and know how to provide great service, the venue has a great ambience and their Pizzas are gourmet and one of the best in Adelaide! No faults found — I highly recommend it.

The first time I came here was for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I was delighted to find yet another place where I could have breakfast at a reasonable price. Walking in, there is front dining area and if you keep walking on through you will come to an open air court yard which is a perfect place to enjoy a meal on a sunny day. I have to say I liked their choices of food. From your typical full breakfast to pizza, you’ve got a wide range of choices and the price is reasonable. Usually when I go there I’ll order one of their«health» shakes to help me wake up in the morning. This is different from my usual routine where I would normally have coffee, but here I have their shakes which are really refreshing. I think the last one I had was a spinach wheatgrass shake, and depending on who you are, you’re either going«YUM» or «What on earth is this guy thinking???». Anyway, to each their own, and they do serve coffee for those of you like to keep things standard. I notice that there are instruments whenever I go there and I’ve been told that they do have live music though I’m not sure exactly when. The staff are always friendly and its one of the places that will pop right into my head whenever I’m thinking of a place to go have breakfast over the weekend.

You may have been to a lot of chic bars in your time, but have you ever ended up strumming a guitar with the boss at two o’clock in the morning? Leigh Champion, the former drummer and now owner of The Deli, will not only provide you with delicious food and drinks, but also,(if you’re as cool as I am) partake in a little after hour’s sing-along and a chat over beers. With a name like The Deli you’d be forgiven for imagining a corner shop where you could grab a meat pie and a Paddle Pop on your way to work. What you’ll actually find is a very funky little bar/café/restaurant/music venue. The Deli is conveniently located across the road from The Wheatsheaf, and is proving a popular hangout for all of the edgy young artisans in the up and coming Western burbs. The beautiful timber interior of the bar is complimented by local art, pottery and jewellery, but it’s the beer garden that has this place consistently booked out for functions. The garden is whimsically filled with fairy lights and comfy couches, as well as spinning turntables and vintage guitars on the stage. Customers can even bring along their own vinyl to listen to while they eat if they’re so inclined. The beef burger with handmade vegetable chips and dip is like a delicious hug, and the pizzas are cheap and beautifully prepared by the exuberant chefs. I even enjoyed a slice of the mushroom pizza which, considering I hate mushrooms, is quite an achievement. If you’re taking a date, get the berries and mint dessert pizza. Do not however, attempt to put candles in it and sing Happy Birthday as we did: it’s messy and compromises an excellent dessert.
