Was very excited to try this place out because I walked by it numerous times. It was always filled with people and the sushi train was very attractive. However when I finally got the chance to try it, it turns out to be just an average sushi restaurant. Food: 2.5 — Sushi was pretty disappointing. It looked great, but the flavors just didn’t mesh together well. Every ingredient within it seemed to be on its own and not meant to be eaten together with the others. — Portions were pretty small — Udon had great flavor! But the beef wasn’t very tender/fresh. Drinks: 4 — Draft beer was great. Really refreshing and flavorful — Ice green tea latte was so worth! Less than $ 5 for a huge glass :) Service: 4 — Standard service. Accidentally spilled soy sauce and the waiter was patient and helped us wipe the table. Atmosphere: 4 — Great interior design. Loved the outdoor seatings next to the harbor. Sushi train(conveyer belt) is always a plus Misc: 3 — Too expensive for the quality of its food, but the location is great :)

Very average sushi. The tuna was tough, the salmon wasn’t much better. Not even the water glasses were clean. I would recommend finding any other of the many sushi trains in the area before this one. At least the location was cool…

I can’t believe this was my very first Sushi Train! It was the last night for my friend Nicole in Sydney and all she wanted was some sush’ and sake. So she grabbed us a table at Umi Sushi & Udon… her favorite on a Friday night at Happy Hour. First off, the moment I sat down I was beaming. I was hungry and fascinated — the movement, the smells the color the excitement… I was transfixed. And what was even better… the Sushi plates were $ 3.60 each that night. At first I watched that train go round and round. Do I want tuna? salmon? scallops? I wanted to choose the right one, the right roll. And in the end, it didn’t really matter. Each plate was as delicious as the next. We drank, we ate, we counted plates, we watched the train go around. We even asked for a special roll which the sushi chef whipped up for us in a flash. The service is great, the food is great and the sushi ain’t bad as well :) If you pop on over M-F they have $ 5 Happy Hour between Monday to Friday at 3−6pm. Drinks included: $ 5 house wine and bubbles, $ 5 house beer and Coronas, and $ 7 special margaritas — what a steal. Have some fun and hit up Darling Harbor for Umi Sushi and Udon you won’t be disappointed.

Show me a person that isn’t the smallest bit delighted by a moving sushi train and I’ll show you a person dissatisfied with life. It’s a train! With sushi! That you can grab stuff from with chopsticks! And put it in your face, also with chopsticks! It’s like a toy-filled childhood fantasy made manifest for adults, and it wants you to be a part of it. When I sat down the manager came over and cracked a big smile and told me all sushi was $ 3.60 today, in fact that was the deal Monday through Thursday, and it’s a hell of a deal because I stuffed myself with freshness for, like, $ 12, or something similarly ridiculous. Plus the price deal meant I could grab stuff I normally wouldn’t get, you know what I mean, those expenno-looking blue and purple plates with grilled scallops and eel and such. I mentioned it comes on a train, right?

Met the family at darling harbour after work. My son wanted somewhere to practice his Japanese so we stopped here. We had the hot pot as it was a cold night plus some sushi plates as starters. I lashed out and had some sake. It’s not the greatest Japanese food in existence and being darling harbor it’s certainly not the cheapest but on the plus side, it is tasty, it’s close to work and my son got to chat to the waiters in Japanese. All up I call it a win.

Yet another overpriced restaurant in Darling Harbour. Don’t be fooled if you see a lot of people eating here, they probably had no other option like we did. Sushi is standard at best. Sushi Rio and Sushi Hotaru offer all sushi plates for $ 3 and they have a wide selection of good quality, fresh and delicious sushi. The sushi here at Umi Sushi does not deserve its steep price tag. I’ve had food court sushi better than what they serve. Green tea for one person costs $ 6 – 7. Seriously?! You are essentially paying for their location and interior design. Service is slow or non-existent. We spent five minutes waiting to pay at the counter with not one staff who can see us paying us any mind. We could’ve easily run off and not pay for our meal, I highly doubt they would notice or care. I would not recommend eating here unless you are really desperate and hungry and can’t be bothered walking to the better sushi/Japanese places and don’t mind parting with your hard earned money on ordinary food.

Udon yum! I’m not totally sold on this being an amazing Japanese eatery. I’ve tried their Udon and the Chicken terriyaki. I also shared my edamame with passing people who stopped to ask what this dish was. Yes, I fed the locals. The food was good, just not awe inspiring. I guess I was hoping it would be the latter. Still. I’ve been to worse places and they do have a sushi train here too if you feel like sushi.

Sushi bar avec son tapis tournant à deux pas du market. Bön rapport qualité/prix. Leur salade poulet/teriyaki est vraiment excellente et copieuse.
