As the name suggests this is an Irish Pub. And it certainly doesn’t dissapointed in this regard. It has all the hallmarks of an Irish Pub; guiness posters on the wall, an average in house band singing classic pub rock, meat pies and mash potato. There is little the distinguishes this pub from almost any other pub in Sydney. and that is not meant to sound like a criticism. It has average prices, the standard selections of beers available and bar staff are a mixture of aussie and European imports. Not a bad place to have a drink and a chat or a meal.

Nice Irish pub with all Irish staff and some Irish meals. Not very veggo friendly. Screens with sports on but often the same on all screens which I prefer to different programmes on every screen. There’s an upstairs with table service or a downstairs where you order at the bar.

I came here on a Thursday night and there was a live performer singing, oh man… it was really loud. Tried to go upstaris to have a quieter spot but it was equally loud. Food was alright. I had the fish N chips which wasnt too oily. A great place to come for after works drinks. Probably not so much for a date…

I had a stellar steak here. 300 gram sirloin, cooked to perfection, with a mass of mashed potatoes and crunch veggies on the side. The pepper sauce was a little watery, I would have liked it thicker. They also had a performer singing and playing the guitar and he was really good. Went on a Thursday night and it was packed. Beers and ciders come in pints so luckily it’s in the heart of the city close to the train station so no need to drive.

Came by this Irish Pub to get some pub food in. I ordered the fish and chips and it was forgettable. Nothing special here… move along. The service wasn’t to great. If you need a quick bite or a pint, sure swing by but there are better options in and around Sydney for a much better price.

Went here wanting to get a tequila, but they only had el jimador gold. I was going to go for a glass of wine instead, but the bartender couldn’t make a suggestion… Asked to see a wine list, it looked really weak… Played at safe and got a vodka soda… Which they somehow managed to mess up. Ridiculously weak pour. Not measured… I know what a measured pour tastes like. My friend got a peroni. It was $ 12. I almost want to add a star because this place is pretty roomy and seating is comfortable. Almost.

Went there for lunch on a weekday and the place is packed. I had the chicken parmigiana and my partner had the nachos. The serving sizes for both were large and to think that the nachos was in the«Light Bites» section of the menu. The food was delicious though and the atmosphere was great. It was getting close to Christmas when I went there and I’m not sure if the crowded atmosphere was due to the festive season or just a regular occurrence at this Irish pub. Will definitely be visiting this pub again for more hearty meals.

Nice and clean. Food was nothing to write home about. The baked goat cheese salad was the only good dish out of 5 dishes. we were there the day after NYE so staff were probably tired as they were less than friendly. Probably would not visit this place again. There are too many excellent restaurants in Sydney for a repeat visit.

Nice hotel which I have been few time already to. Irish people are everywhere but drinks are not bad and food was quite tasty too. Is OK place to chat up with people and have something Irish to eat.

Nice comfortable Irish Pub. Food and service are great, and they pour a decent Guinness to boot!

At first glance, it would be easy to write P.J. O’Brien’s off as a nice hotel bar, and for good reason. It is, after all, a nice bar in a hotel. But once you settle in for a few pints, do the pub quiz, or just relax at happy hour to live music, you’ll quickly find it holds its own against any Irish style pub outside the emerald isle. Since we were staying in the Grace, it was the natural place to meet up after work before heading out, and we weren’t ever in too much of a hurry to move on. The cozy lighting, dark wood interior, charming service, and collection of antique books, photos, and gizmos give it an air of authenticity that really only lacks decades of smoke and grime to make it feel like the real deal. Pints of local craft beers were about what you’d expect to pay in any regular ol’ CBD bar, without the hotel bar markup, and the food looked to be pretty substantial, although I didn’t experience it myself this time around. Whether it’s your second home away from home or a change of pace from the usual downtown pubs, give O’Brien’s a shot the next time you’re downtown.

Set on the ground floor of the Grace Building, PJs is a clean, non-sticky Irish bar. It can get pretty full on Friday and Saturday nights(from what I can gather) but otherwise it’s a pretty chilled place to have a cheeky pint of the black stuff. The upstairs area is reserved for diners, but I’ve not had the food there so I won’t comment on that. If you’ve come to Sydney and you’re view on Irish bars is based on Scruffy Murphy’s, forget about that, this is much different. It’s a pleasant place to come for a few drinks and you don’t feel uneasy walking in here sober!

PJ’s was the watering hole for a long while, it’s a great unpretentious bar with cheap drinks, daily deals on food, and if you become a regular they usually give you discounts on top of the regular great prices. Anywhere with Guinness’ gotta be good! You’re not getting the 5 star styled Irish meal, but for the 10 or 15 dollars you’ll get some change, and some simple but tasty meals. Oh, and Sunday’s wouldn’t be the same without the extremely cheap, excessively large, and undoubtably simple Sunday Roast. This is more a tradition than a fancy meal, and I’m sure you’ve experienced the same before! The vibe is warm and comforting, like an ancient drinking house of the aristocrats, the big jovial characters hugging their Guinness’s like cherished prizes from a hard yards in the chambers. No-nonsence bar, polite bar tenders, Irish accents(hot), cheap food, Guinness, and a warm and cuddly feeling(not from the NZ’d bouncers)

Das ist ein schönes gemütliches Pub, an dem es öfters auch Livemusik gibt — wie fast überall. Sehr zentral — reinkommen, Bier bestellen, wohlfühlen!

I stopped in this pub after doing the bridge climb. It is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere awar from the city centre. They also do great food, I remember having gourmet pizza and sweet potato chips and as a veggie there was a nice option for us but they had lots of other good choices for those non veggies!

I won’t lie, PJ’s is my favourite pub in Sydney, and I’m likely to be unashamedly biased about it. That being said, if you are a true pubber and just like a good pint and a good chance to either just chill out with your friends or meet a whole lot of new people, this truly is somewhere worth checking out. The rumour is that all the timber used for the warm interior of PJ’s(which is an Irish pub) was imported from Ireland. Whether or not that’s true, I’m not sure, but from my experience of Dublin pubs it is a good recreation. PJs clientele seem to come and go in waves, but come about 10.30pm on a weekend the place can really fill up. The music generally is at a good background level and suits a bit of a rock crowd, with the obligatory U2 songs on rotation. There aren’t any live acts in the Sydney PJ’s(although I believe the Melbourne one has a fair bit) but there is a lot of sport — mostly for the Irish crowd to follow the soccer/football, as well as rugby, gaelic football and sometimes hurling. Linking in with the Tadhg Keneally connection, PJ’s also has a Sydney Swans AFL Supporters Club, and shows their games with some devotion. Unlike a lot of ‘sports bars’ though, there aren’t TVs everywhere and the sport that’s playing doesn’t dominate your evening — it’s just there if you want it. There are plenty of cosy nooks to sit in, although it’s not a huge pub. Turn up too late on a weekend and you will have to queue to get in. It is very much an Irish pub and stocks not only Guinness but also Irish ciders, alcopops, sodas and even chips/crisps. Towards the end of a night, when they are getting ready to close, the management have a tendency to break out the old Irish songs to get the whole crowd singing and in a good mood. I have been there at the end of the night and felt the whole place thumping to the rhythm of people stamping their feet along to the music — it has ambience plus. Another great thing about PJ’s is the food — there are plenty of options for a hearty pub meal and this ranges from Guinness pie to lasagne to chicken parmigiana to gourmet pizza. The only real downsides to PJ’s: in summer it does get quite warm, particularly when it’s busy, and the few fans and one air conditioner simply don’t handle it. You can be doing very little and still end up feeling hot and sweaty. The other main downside, if this is your thing, is it’s by no means a place to see and be seen. People are there for a drink with their mates or maybe a friendly chat with the people next to them. There’s no dancefloor and nowhere to really strut your stuff. But if you can handle those factors, it’s a lot friendlier as a pub than most other inner-city pubs in Sydney, and well worth a visit!
