Nice but expensive” I recently had a coffee and hot chocolate here. Thoughts were that the taste was good, but the price was very high. I guess you get what you pay for.

80’s shake all the way! I had a lovely visit to this location of this chain. The staff were kind and helpful. The chocolate was rich and of high quality. The area was large and spacious. The downfall was the requirement of a $ 10 minimum was tricky when all I wanted was a drink $ 8 and all snacks/extras were around $ 8 or more.

Christmas & Chocolate = heaven. Take time to visit & enjoy a mini chocolate wonderland with pre-packed chocolate goodies for gifts suitable for adults & children alike. The menu is chocolate overload in a good way & there is plenty of wonderful naughty choices. The coffee is not great but then you don’t visit this café for anything other than hot chocolate or a chocolate laced cappuccino. The décor is warm and welcoming & the air con a relief. Worth a visit for the chocolate Addicts. Yum

I’ve been to Max Brenner in NYC and I must admit that they certainly don’t carry the best of fondues. But I still decided to dine at Max Brenner in Sydney, just because it was one of those days when I was craving for chocolate fondue and Max Brenner was nearby. We came for a late dinner during the weekday, so it wasn’t too crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and we took the outdoor seating area. Ordered a chocolate fondue at the counter, and sat outdoors. Fondue was served in a few min; with dippings like strawberries, bananas, cake, marshmallows. They served two kinds of fondue, one with milk chocolate and the other with dark chocolate. To sum it, their chocolate fondues are mediocre. Will most likely go to a different fondue restaurant when I crave for chocolate again.

Yo! You guys gave me a hot salted caramel hot chocolate! OHEMGEE! You’re the first shop out of 2 of the other Max Brenners I’ve been to that has given me a hot one! I was so impressed, I was really hoping I’d get a hot one as I now know what a cold/lukewarm one tastes likes. Plenty of seating inside and outside here, a separate chocolate counter for those that don’t want liquid forms of chocolate. No bathrooms but there are bathrooms in the metcentre so it’s not far to go. I really really really enjoyed the salted caramel hot chocolate hot. Who knew?!

My last review at the Castle Hill branch was pretty negative and this one is along the same line except for a few glimpses of hope this time or so I thought. CHOCOLATEMESSTOSHARE $ 19.90 (Decadent chocolate sponge drenched in chocolate syrup topped with ice cream, whipped cream & sprinkles) A sponge cake served in a dog bowl which was neither hot nor cold dropped on diluted hot chocolate with three balls of chocolate ice-cream finished with whipped cream on top. All that for $ 20, are you kidding me? what made it worst was there was no real melted chocolate in sight(which is the only good thing about Brenner — the pure chocolate). Great name for this f***ing mess, in terms of value, taste and sadly a waste of calories. When you’re thinking of all the other stuff you could have had instead while eating, you know the dish is beyond saving. I get more enjoyment eating a Cornetto or Golden Gaytime than this. Conclusion My previous post was about how their menu was old and nothing was made to order. At first I was glad to see that they updated the menu and actually thought that they had pretty good new ideas. That was on paper however the execution was very poor with the Chocolate Mess and the only saving grace was that this branch had fast service and the layout is spacious and comfortable. Max Brenner just had to execute the old menu and propose real fresh made to order food. Again, all of the soufflés, waffles, etc are reheated and designed to be finished off by staff very quickly. Good logistical sense but bad business sense in the long term for if you are like me and boycott them for the reasons above. @thesydneynoob

I love the ambience in the shop. Always plays upbeat music and it’s a great hangout for larger groups too. There’s a chocolate shop inside if you wanna get some takeaway. Definitely try the waffle drizzled with Belgian chocolate. Grab a hot dark chocolate with crunchy balls too! It’s divine!

Well, i might be bias because i love chocolate. But i think that this place is really awesome! I really love the waffle that i think i would die without it. I love the chocolate lick because i just love the way max branner melts its chocolate and serves it hot inside a small pot. Omg so good! And the fondue is good as well!

Dear Max Brenner, Do your brand a favor and CLOSE the Sydney mini-you location. I was first introduced to Max Brenner in New York.(Lydia? Are you serious? This must be the flagship store for Max Brenner? Do yourself and the Unilocal community a favor and actually eaither use the internet to determine the real locations or TRAVEL before you make assertions like that!) The New York Location is a magical wonderland of light, chocolate and masterful food. It was an amazing experience I was so thrilled to be able to show my boyfriend when we stumbled upon the one in Sydney. Unfortunately it was a huge let down. Even the chocolate was sub-par. The Chocolate in the New York location is so high quality that you don’t get a sugar crash, you feel great — like good«coco» should make you feel. Not so in Sydney. The quality is much lower but they don’t stop there with the disappointments. The Sydney location is a horribly lit, watered down chocolate disaster. The Sydney locations’s chocolate hug’s are completely watered down, the fondu is served with some kind of bread that seems like rye bread(yuck!) the lighting is like Starbucks with absolutely no magic like the New York Flagship location and the selection is what? 15 items maybe? compared to the almost 75 different amazing creative items(not including«food) at the New York Location. The mall bathrooms were literally the worst I have seen in any 3rd world country(Actually, a clean squat toilet with leaves would be cleaner in Indonesia). No toilet paper in ANY stall and the toilets were literally overflowing with poo. Seriously, and It was only 6:45pm in in the evening on a quiet sunday night. This place is a tragedy. It would be better off if they just made it a Starbucks and Max could find the space to open a «real» location instead of some sad wanna-be coffee-house knock off. Oh Max. I was so in love with you before. Now your just some crappy franchise sell out. Sure. It’s good enough now for the masses. But the magic and the uniqueness that made you a stand out experience is gone. Way to go; claw your way to the middle.

A really neat café/coffee/cocoa shop! The décor and the ambience is pretty cool. There’s this great outside patio full of tables and the as you enter there’s these giant cauldrons of stirring chocolate that flows up into pipes along the ceiling to chocolate spouts behind the café counter. Food wise, coffee and chocolate were great. We tried a fondue pot that came with milk and dark chocolate, strawberries and marshmallows. I would have liked to take away a chocolate bar but it turns out they only sell high end truffles or something.

In a bid not to go home just yet, wanting the night to last that little bit longer, I break one of my cardinal rules. Rule number one is, ‘never get involved in a land war in Asia.’ but only slightly less well known is my second rule, ‘never drink coffee after sun down.’ It’s not because I’m a Mogwai and any food or beverage will cause me to mutate into a not necessarily deadly, but ultimately annoying and mischievous Gremlin, but because the caffeine will keep me sleepless. We venture into Max Brenner on the Corner of George and Margaret Street. A large imposing bald man looks down on us as we pass his threshold, he is the ‘chocolate man.‘ Ordering at the counter we take our number to an outdoor table to sit and continue our conversations from earlier, the coffee comes and I inhale right before sipping, causing me to cough and splutter and ruin the illusion that I am a super cool dude. Then I notice on the serviettes provided, it was a competition designed by a student, the artwork on the napkin. But they’ve written, this is the good people at Max Brenner, that this was the winnning entry. Three ‘N’s in winning? Really chocolate man? I just tried to write three ‘N’s on Text Editor and it wouldn’t let me. You do chocolate and coffee, and you do them well, this is how you have so many stores now, but perhaps don’t leave the copy on the napkins to the Oompa Loompa’s who run your factory. Good coffee, bad spelling. Affordable and consistent.

This seems to be the flagship store of Max Brenner’s chocolate empire. A flight of steps leads up to heavy glass doors, embellished with Max Brenner’s face. The interior is chocolate brown, rich and comfortable. Things are likely to be OK if the first thing one sees when entering the shop is enormous blocks of chocolate, the size of concrete slabs, waiting to be melted down. Cauldrons of molten white, milk and dark chocolate are on display to whet the appetite. As one would expect, the menu focuses on a range of chocolate treats. The fondues appear to be very popular here — most of the occupants of the tables next to me are happily dipping strawberries, banana, waffles and marshmallows into little pots of chocolate. I choose the chocolate soufflé, which in fact is a chocolate fondant, but who’s complaining? The centre is rich, gooey and flows out of the spongy shell. I detect some white chocolate drops too, but not enough to make a real impact. The dish is excellently presented, with stripes of melted chocolate zig-zagged across the plate. There are so many choices in this chocolate wonderland — I want to try the cookie ice cream sandwich, the waffles, the chocolate sundae, the chocolate pizzas. It all looks delicious. Smaller chocolate treats are also available — the shop has a truffle selection where beautiful chocolates are displayed in elegant cabinets. The truffles would make the perfect present for those who missed out on the chocolate odyssey, or the perfect accompaniment to their famous hot chocolates. Choose from white, milk or dark hot chocolate, Italian thick hot chocolate, hot chocolate with crunchy waffle balls or marshmallows, the list is endless and would be daunting, if it weren’t for its chocolate nature. It is also good to note that Max Brenner offer a take-away option. Perfect for those in a rush who need a chocolate fix. However, dining in certainly adds an extra dimension to the experience: watching other people enjoy their chocolate, the faint whirring of the cauldrons stirring their molten contents, the whizz of the hot chocolate machine. I am in heaven.

A popular chocolate and waffle bar in Sydney, this place is always busy. There are quite a wide selection of waffles to choose from, the hot chocoate was good. Service was bad.
