Guylian’s — known throughout Europe as one of the best places for chocolates, cafes, and tasty snacks… — Croissants served with hot dark chocolate in its own small decanter to sweeten as desired. — Double expresso; to be a strong tasty endeavor that has an aroma that takes you to a happy place. — A banana, coconut, and chocolate covered expresso bean smoothie — supposed to be simply delightful, right??? My Lady ordered the smoked salmon Tasmanian salad. It came out quickly, looked and tasted fine. — The croissant was served as she was taking her last bites. It was hard, room temperature, and the dark chocolate was cold. — The double expresso had NO aroma to comfort the taste and it was NOT a double! — The smoothie; warm. The glass didn’t even condensate. Tasty? I’ve had better at McDonald’s. — Service, you may ask? The table in front of me, 4 of the gentlemen got up and left. The last poor soul had to find the waitress to pay. I had already stacked the plates and set them on the table next to me, had my wallet sitting in the table, and had twice made eye contact with the waitress in order to pay. It wasn’t until she came over to clear the gentlemen’s table(that had already left), and my Lady asked her for the check that she recognized we even existed. No offers to refill drinks or anything during the sitting. No questioning or conversation with regards to the food, drinks, or anything whatsoever. — No, the place was NOT busy either. Talk about a place living off its reputation. I will not only not be back, but will avoid ALL such establishments that have a name similar to «Guylian’s» Did I mention the price? $ 46AUD for a salad, smoothie, double expresso & croissant. If I could post a ZERO rating, I would.

Went here for a midnight coffee a few days ago and realised that the little cakes, slices and muffins are to die for. Their«Pure Pleasure» really is just that — a beautiful rich chocolate panna cotta that’s pricey($ 13) for its small size but definitely worth it. And their huge mixed berry muffin is equally delicious and cheaper at $ 5. The reason I’m only giving them 3 stars though is because I don’t like any of their drinks that I’ve tried. I definitely wouldn’t recommend their special Hot Chocolate though — too rich for my taste, but if that’s your thing, go for it. I feel the same way about their salted caramel milkshake — it’s too rich and makes me feel a bit sick — but if you know me then you’d know that that’s just because I(usually) can’t stand anything super rich. Their coffee is ok, but not amazing. Service is great though — even at 10 mins before closing time which is about when we got there. I’d go there again for a late night snack, definitely.

Average service. Didn’t bother with making nice aside from getting the order and not coming back. My guest ordered a hot chocolate which he was happy with. I was patiently awaiting complimentary tap water that never arrived. This is standard for a café to offer this without having to ask. Probably would not return anytime soon.

Love chocolate? Then this is the place be. The menu is not massive but it as enough to keep a visitor happy. I had a peppermint hot chocolate which was delicious & served in a silver jug. It allowed for 2 cups — yum! There is also a chocolate in the cup to either melt in your drink or enjoy separately. For lunch I had the multi grain baguette with Gouda, tomatoes, basil & avocado, it was fresh & tasty. The choice of chocolates & desserts is a chocoholic’s dream! The only draw back was the delay in-between our drinks arriving & our Food, by the time it arrived our drinks were nearly finished.

Pardon my pun but this is going to be a Short and sweet review… Yes this place is overly priced but the craftsmanship that goes into making the chocolate and the cakes is amazing and delicious and that’s why it is overly priced. The service does suck here and they need to pick up their game.

I visited this place last night for a dessert event and I was blown away at the quality of dishes they have on offer at this store! I was in chocolate heaven and having the time of my life! I recommend every dish because that’s how I roll when it comes to anything chocolate.

I had a hot chocolate with my good friend and it was fantastic. I recommend it to anyone, as you get a free chocolate. It has great service.

Guylian’s avocado on gluten-free toast… my second addiction when I’m in Sydney. The first is Guylian’s iced chocolate with almond milk, ice cream and whipped cream. A must if you are in the area — and don’t have just one!

Picture this: mediocre, small café with 90s style décor serving: — Ice coffee for $ 12; — Tiny 4cm — 5 cm scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream(not gelato) for $ 6(no cone either); and — Milkshakes for $ 12 or $ 9.50(kids only). And wait for it…10% surcharge on Sundays! This is not my idea of fun. Located on a bustling corner of the popular Rocks area, this café is the definition of a tourist trap. I came here with a large group for dessert after a birthday celebration and struggled to order. Half of us ended up with the $ 6 tiny scoop of a ice cream because it was the 2nd cheapest thing on the menu(one cup of tea would have set us back a whopping $ 5). The small café has a second level upstairs with the same run down décor — and does not have air conditioning! Needless to say, I won’t be back.

Beautiful presentation, must try if you are a tourist. Have to say is it very expensive cup of hot chocolate or coffee

Touristy location apparently justifies cold croissants and terrible service. Had to wait for 20 min before a cup of herbal tea appeared. Would never go in there again. We only walked in as we needed to be somewhere quickly and this was the closest place. They are completely clueless.

The chocolate is good but they’re pretty pricey. The service was also subpar for an establishment like this. Don’t get the icecream. Ours came half melted and it wasn’t that great.

I went here on a Monday night, thank heavens they’re open til 11PM. We ordered two hot chocolates — one dark, one milk. There’s a price difference between ordering in and taking away, and the hot chocs cost around $ 7.50 each. But for that $ 7.50, it’s not a single serve mug — they serve it in a pot, and it’s full of pure chocolatey goodness. Each order had chocolate in the mug(a square of dark chocolate for me, a seahorse for the milk chocolate), as well as a praline wrapped in foil on the side. You pour your hot chocolate in the mug and it melts the chocolate, giving it a stronger chocolate-y flavor. Even as a dark chocolate it was pretty sweet… the milk one was sweeter still. If you’re a huge fan of the chocolates(like I am), you can’t go wrong with coming here, really. Service was OK. They were nice enough but not really on the ball, to think there weren’t that many people there at that time.

Free wine or soft drink with savory items on Lunch Menu. That was the hook that got us in the door. After our 3 hours walking tour, we were ready to rest our weary feet. We ordered the Beef Pie and a Turkey baguette. Both tasted wonderful. We were curious why they served us tomato sauce(ketchup) with the pie, apparently, we are suppose to lift up the top of the pie, put the tomato sauce in then eat. The beef pie was so tasty, no extra condiment is needed. The light side salad was refreshing with a citrus dressing. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and clean, upstairs where the washrooms are also have meeting rooms you can rent for a lunch or dinner meeting. We didn’t know how reasonably priced this restaurant was until after we finished and walk along the street where other restaurants are, for what we got it was worth the value.

We had breakfast and ordered the Guylian Belgian chocolate special(Guylian praliné chocolate, yoghurt, mixed berry fruits, raspberry sauce, chocolate milk, topped with whipped cream), Classic hot chocolate(dark) and croissants :) Not a fan for the special chocolate(weird combination) but hot chocolate is good as expected. Portion is good, able to enjoy two cups and surprise. it comes with a piece of dark chocolate in my mug! Croissant is so-so, could be better… love the atmosphere.

It’s decent but don’t fool yourself. has chocolate waffles for breakfast and the other food is so so. I won’t lie their desserts are pretty amazing. It is a great place to pick up a designer birthday cake. Other than that it seems pretty overhyped. Expect to spend between 15 and $ 25 per person if you plan on eating here. The coffee is decent but nothing to write home about. All in all it is a decent place if you’re passing through and you want to not take the risk of stumbling upon a bad place. Because it’s not bad at all… it’s just not amazing.

Dined at the Circular Quay location on a whim… and let me say, their Belgian waffle with chocolate is one of the BEST things I’ve ever eaten. And yes, I’m saying that knowing it’s a waffle. It’s not just a waffle though. It’s the perfect combination of flaky, crisp, moist waffle with the sweet, decadent chocolate sauce. If you haven’t tried their special, you haven’t lived.

What a great finish to an evening! Beautiful desserts lined the display cabinet. I chose the ‘100% Pure Satisfaction’. I was not disappointed. A chocolate covered mousse, with bits of brandy snaps, white chocolate swirls, orange crumble, a swipe of raspberry and another of chocolate sauce to decorate and combine mousse with. Lovely space to eat and drink quietly and think about what tastes are exploding in your mouth. Pure Satisfaction!
