First time visiter to this place. when i think Doughnuts i think Krispy Kreme. but they’re a bit boring now so wgen i heard about Doughnut time was intrigued to taste what most were boasting about :)!! This place was really small almost like a pop up shop. You could see the doughnuts weren’t fresh of the press but they looked delicous. I got the Raspberry jam with cinnamon powder sprinkled over it :) I thought the doughnut was fantastic, jam was delicous of course but the doughnut was big like a burger size almost and it was soft & fluffy. Went down super fast! Definately coming back but would love to try it fresh though: D!

After I sent my coworker a link to donut joints in Sydney, she ended up craving for them so much that she went to Doughnut Time and bought donuts for everyone.(Yay me for being a good influence.) She got me a dulce de leche donut, because I love all things caramelly! Now, these donuts are HUGE. And DENSE. They’re around the size of a medium-sized hamburger. The dulce de leche donut itself came with a huge chunk of dulce de leche in the middle — refer to my photo to see how generous they were. The dough itself was good. Probably not the lightest or fluffiest texture ever, but still quite good. I couldn’t finish it… I gave the other half of mine to another coworker, and she was pretty happy. These are definitely worth checking out, just get them to share otherwise you might die from a sugar coma.

Crazy doughnut flavours hidden in a crazy location. Tucked away in Top Shop’s lower level(near QVB’s entry/exit way) is this tiny doughnut kingdom challenges the foundation of conventional flavours. They may be pricey but it’s worth at least trying once. My partner and I got one each — she went with a White Knight, a white chocolate sensation which is so smooth and velvety that the laws of gravity do not apply. I myself went with the Watermelon, which had an ambiguous sweet sugar flavour topped with citric acid. The acid gives a very sharp tang which only pulled me out of the watermelon illusion even more — watermelons ain’t sharp and tangy… are they? Flavours aside it was still a swell snack. Both doughnuts has amazing height and size. The inside dough was perfectly puffy and just the right kind of sweet. It really hit the spot and was perfect for a heavier snack with the bonus sugar rush. Would try different flavours next time.

Seriously some of the best doughnuts I have ever had. I’m not a big fan of doughnuts as it is but they are amazing. Also love the packaging!

Original Review Posted on 13/11/2015 Talk around the water filter at work was that there was some new fang dangle place a block away from the office selling double-decker doughnuts. My immediate thought was that the only thing better then a single decked(not a real thing) doughnut has gotta be a double-decker tube of doughy sugary goodness and there was no way I was going to miss that. Like a good Unilocaler I had my iPhone at the ready looking for opportunities to be that guy that takes photos of things and then writes about them online, but the reality quickly sunk in that we had no idea where to find it. Fast forward to 10 minutes of wandering through clothes racks, change rooms, and VIP shoppers in Topshop(because we don’t ask for directions) this next tip will hopefully save you 9 minutes at least when you go looking. Location — Topshop on the cnr Market St & George St(Gowings Building) If you are coming in from the QVB’s lower concourse that joins up with Myers under George Street, you will see the painted sign indicating Doughnut Time can be located on the lower ground level. Now thats all good and well but when you walk into Topshop with the small oversight that they don’t call their levels«Lower Ground Level». Instead you want to head to «Level –1». Yep thats a minus! If you are coming in from the street level, easiest entrance is on George Street that faces the QVB and then come straight down the escalators and its right in front of you. So now that you found the place, what can you expect. Basically this is a tiny pop-up counter with 5 levels of all kinds of doughnuts and a super awesome neon lit sign. But lets looks a little closer and get out our red maker; 1. The cabinets are lit with an orange coloured LED strip that doesn’t make the doughnuts look particular inviting and reminds me of being in an underground car park back in the 90’s. If we eat with our eyes initially, mine just closed and was picturing Krispy Kreme. 2. Little green labels sit in front of each poorly lit shelf in an attempt to show off some play on word name for the doughnuts and possibly the flavours. If you don’t mind pressing your face to the glass then you might actually be able to find out what they were. Clear signage rules. Poor signage does not. So what about the doughnuts themselves after all of that. Well lets just say, we have no idea YET. After a frustrating search to find this place, and then having to understand the cryptic labels, the whole time we were there the two employees literally moved one doughnut from one tray to another and didn’t actually serve a single customer from the long line that had formed. No seriously these two actually preferred to not sell anything and instead wanted to make sure that they had completely restocked every single tray with every doughnut they could. During the lunch rush on a Friday! What were they thinking. After 15 minutes, we like many others, ditched the line in search of something to fill the gap of the double-decker doughnut that we were not destined to taste that day. I will do an update the next time we go provided we get to try the product this time around. But lets just say that our appetites were met with an incredible soft serve ice cream covered in salted caramel popcorn and popping candy and then wrapped in a cloud of candy floss from inside the Myers food court. But that review will come soon :-) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Review Updated on 16/11/2015 Star Rating; Increase from 2 Stars to 3 Starts Finally managed to go back here without a swarm of dessert lovers to bring you some more pics and to actually purchase two doughnuts(which we were unsuccessful at the first time around). The doughnuts were A-OK but nothing to write a telegram and send it via carrier pigeon back to your family about. Think Krispy Kreme with toppings that lure you in but then fail to deliver a wow once consumed. Just like a sugar high, there was the anticipation of buying something new and tasty followed by the epic withdrawal post digestion when your taste buds say«meh, I’ve had better». Human psychology has me wondering if this place is getting the foot traffic it is because of the location, people just needing a sugar fix, or people don’t want to be seen in a 7 Eleven buying actual Krispy Kremes now that a bricks & mortar Krispy Kreme doesn’t exist in the Sydney CBD anymore. That reminds me, yearly dental check-up time…
