«The plane has been delayed for one hour» Oh no not again! The traffic around the airport is a nightmare and people are taking terrible risks at the lights! This is early on a Saturday morning. The safest place is to be at Krispy Kreme and have that coffee and have a sweet hit of iced donuts to at least keep you happy. My safe haven has been this Krispy Kreme a number of times, especially when you are picking up friends from either the Sydney Domestic or International Airports. There is always parking there and you don’t get caught in paying massive parking fees. Then again… tell your friend to catch the train! ha. The underground train station is very efficient.

You can see why this chain is almost dead when in the store. Quality control of the donuts as they are made is almost non existent. They now allow them to come through the line half cooked misshapen etc. and then remove them. The process used to cook them by flipping and then cooking them for a few seconds in oil or fat on each side may also explain the poor taste of the unglazed cinnamon donut or maybe it is poor quality flour? I suspect it is not changing the oil often enough or low quality oil. Either way it was obvious on first bite that the taste is not like you get in a real well made donut. The quality of the coffee is also poor. For kids only this might be a good choice for a treat but do you really want your kids to be supersized from the excessive sugar? Stay at home and spend 5 mins whipping up your own batter with the kids… :-)

When leaving Sydney airport heading into the city, this is a great find — if you’re with someone who knows the local roads. It’s not at all out of the way. They have a 24 hour drive thru. We picked up coffees, with a Starbucks-type variety, for the drive in Sydney. Had a decaf lowfat cappuccino that was pretty good. Can’t get that at most Krispy Kreme’s.
