Stumbled upon this shop one evening and was excited with the 15 or so flavors still available. Unfortunately, the cupcakes are rather small for $ 3AUD each. Think in between the size of a mini cupcake and a standard muffin tin sized one you’d bake at home. On top of that, the flavor in the cake and frosting left something to be desired. We tried 3 different flavors, and the cake was dry and low on flavor in all of them. The vanilla cake base was the same for the sundae, lemon, and strawberry cupcakes. Guess that makes it easier for the bakery to prep.

The owner is in the shop 7 days a week and is incredibly friendly. This is the first cupcake shop in all of Sydney since the ‘80s. Excellent presentation. Sometimes it looks better than it tastes, but for the cute shop experience and the relatively low price of a cupcake, it is totally worth it. They sell bread, pastries, & coffee, too! If a child comes in he lets them make their own cupcake and sets up a whole station for them. So cute!

Great value. I picked some cupcakes up for a colleagues birthday. For $ 2.50 each, I was expecting mini cupcakes, but these were more of a medium size. The cupcakes themselves are beautiful, and there’s a bigger variety than I’ve seen at the other cupcake shops around. Unfortunately, the cakes were a bit dry and crumbled too easily. The icing and toppings were spot on and delicious. To be fair, we ate these roughly 8 hours after I purchased them, which might explain the dryness. I would definitely try these again, even with the dryness.

What can I say? I was all ready to write a glowing review for Cupcakes on Pitt, but alas, it was not to be… as others have commented, this place looks amazing on the outside, the decorations on the cakes, the sheer volume of choices and flavors! But, apparently they spent all their time on the display, and not nearly enough on the ingredients… I’ve walked past this place a lot, and finally decided to go in and try it out despite the reviews. I should have known better… I got a box of 6 cupcakes, and trotted my fat self on home to settle in and get my sugar on. To be honest, I don’t even remember what flavors I got, but it doesn’t matter, none of them were worth mentioning. They all were beautiful on the outside, but dry, and flavorless on the inside. And, as is usual for most cupcakes here, they don’t use buttercream for icing, so it was the usual colored hardened cream for a topping(boooooo!!!) I had such high hopes, but they were dashed on the rocks of reality… give it a miss, there are way better confections around the CBD…

If you were judging this like a profile picture you’d rate it a 5, but when you get acquainted with the cupcakes it’s truly a 2. The cupcake is so suboptimal and I’m sure it’s the icing which ruins it. They don’t use buttercream and instead opt for a cheap hardened whipped cream equivalent. The only thing which saves them is they pretty decorations they use to hide their below average cupcakes.

Tried a red velvet cupcake here and it was great. They also have great cupcake + coffee deals which makes going there even more tempting!

I’m one of the worst people to take to a restaurant because i really suck at making a choice… I suffer from sever food envy and probably spend way to much deciding what to have so as to not miss out… so you can imagine when someone like me walks into a cupcake store with soooooo many choices… my heart rate rises and suddenly I’m frozen in indecision… Cupcakes on pitt has so many cupcake options how can anyone decide which«one» to have. There’s chocolate sundae passionfruit, lamington, green tea, peppermint and so the list goes on… each one is delicately decorated like a piece of art, leaving you wanting to sample them all as each seems to have its only personality. They are delicious to eat, but it’s definitely the topping that makes it… they’re really fun to share with a friend or to bring as a gift instead of flowers… If you like cupcakes I’m confident you’ll like Cupcakes on Pitt… Why only 4 not 5 stars, because I’ve eaten at Magnolia Bakeries(NYC) and I’m ruined for life.

$ 2.50 cupcakes, $ 2.50 coffee — that is all that they ask for here and the cupcakes look absolutely divine. They are very convincing! Almost irresistable and for that price a mark of evidently hospitable behaviour. You can’t sit inside but there are 2 tables out the front if you do want to sit and have a snack. You are able to buy boxes of cupcakes and order for functions. I would reccomend this cupcake shop as it is a little bit different to the mainstream cupcakes — you get all the favourites like, red velvet and chocolate mud but then there is also a little more panache for your dollar from Cupcakes on Pitt.

The mere display in the shop window of Cupcakes on Pitt is enough to make your mouth water. The cupcakes are just SO cute! They’re all small, and brightly coloured, with a variety of patterns and designs in icing on them! Best of all, they’re really affordable! Only $ 2.50 a cupcake! You can also get giant cupcakes for about $ 50, and they’re just as pretty and cute as the little ones! You can also get custom cupcakes, I’m led to believe. So get those creative juices flowing! Or if you just want to indulge your sweet tooth, it’ll only cost you $ 2.50!

I blame the Sydney Film Festival for my addiction to cupcakes. You see I was bleary eyed and bolting between screenings. Usually I make the dash from Event Cinemas to the State Theatre down George Street but for some reason I ended up — sugar deprived — pegging it down Pitt. That’s when I caught a glimpse of cupcakes… they were beckoning me through the window, and I was powerless to resist. And cupcakes are such happy treats. They look as sweet as they taste and these ones taste pretty damn good. With flavours ranging from simple vanilla to Cherry Ripe(!!), there’s something to please every sweet tooth. Cookies and Cream is my favourite — and yes that has a lot to do with the Oreo on top. Funnily enough, I found myself opting to walk down Pitt over George Street for the rest of the film festival… and more than a few times since.

Cupcake Shops seem to be a new craze which I, as an out and out Brit, am fully in support of. Nothing makes more sense than a late afternoon cup of something warm and a slice of cake. But this cupcake shop has forsaken the timely associations of comfort and taste for pure aesthetics, proving that all that glitters is most certainly not gold. As soon as I’d bitten into my beautifully decorated strawberry cupcake the dream was shattered, it was overly sweet and had the oddest texture, something like liquid candyfloss. There are something like 30 different types of cupcakes but judging on the look of disappointment on my friend’s face as she bit into her one, they are all a bit rubbish. Furthermore you can’t go the whole hog in afternoon tea revelry by lounging around in comforting surroundings with your pinky up in the air as there are only a couple of seats strewn around the place, as though they were the designer’s afterthought. What’s more I was soon to discover that this business has quite the grounding in Sydney with 4, I repeat, 4 other premises clogging up the streets. If I were you I’d leave these pretty displays well alone, stick to window shopping.

Hail Cupcakes on Pitt for the best cupcakes in Sydney. Located opposite Wynyard Station, this quaint cupcake and cake shop would look quite at home in a bustling New York street. With rows upon rows of delicately crafted cupcakes oozing flavour, you will no doubt want to sample them all! A box(or two) of their cupcakes make an excellent gift or dinner party treat. When you utter the words«Cupcakes on Pitt» you will have guests jumping up and down in their seats. Cupcakes are surprisingly well priced and are generously portioned. The store also design and bake cakes in the shape of cupcakes for special occasions. Everything in this store is beautifully embellished and yummy!
