Definitely one of the best coffees around the area. I keep coming back here for their Sumatran blend coffee. They also have eCoffeeCard, which is a plus for me! It looks like they haved moved to Bathurst Street, just a short stroll from the old place.

Coffee shop in the heart of the city, there is a screen and some fantastic lunch specials. Coffee and deserts can be purchased from here too. But I think there is a lot of effort put into the lunch menu to keep it low fat and healthy food, for a economical price. The atmosphere is casual dining and the staff friendly and ready to help, there is a separate window for coffee purchases if you are just walking past, or you can enter and take a seat. There is a lot of competition in this area for places to eat, so you will find that prices are kept down and that there is a lot of variety. This could easily be seen as a lunch regular for many office workers in the area.

I was wandering around the city, desperately hungry, and aching for some toast, eggs, and perhaps bacon. Alas, it was way past breakfast time. This is my eternal problem. I love breakfast. yet I never wake up early enough to get it. Almost as if driven there by fate(lolnotreally), I chanced upon Opal Coffee. Now, Opal Coffee looks entirely unremarkable. The dining area is tiny, with maybe 3 or 4 tables inside a fairly cramped space, and a couple of tables in the outdoor seating area. Were I not almost fainting with hunger, I might’ve walked right past in favour of something that looked more substantial. Reputable, perhaps. Thank the metaphorical heavens I didn’t! For Opal Coffee serves ALL-DAY breakfast! Not just any meager breakfast… but the most complete, well-rounded, varied collection of breakfasts menus I’ve had the fortune of seeing. After much drooling, I picked the ‘Sourdough Special Breakfast’. This consisted of two rather enormous pieces of buttered sourdough toast, what looked like two scrambled eggs, two sausages, three rashers of bacon, and two hash browns. All for what amounted to $ 12. Me AND my rather hefty friend shared the meal, and could not finish, that’s how satisfying and filling it was. I would go here again, and again, and again, multiple times a day, if it were at all feasible. Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. PS: I would not recommend the sausage roll. They do weird things like put peas and carrots in it. Do not want.
