Cool bar with a hipster feel that is tucked away in a center. There’s seating 2-level seating indoors and seating outdoors. We came around 4pm and while the bar was quiet, I couldn’t help but notice how many«Reserved» signs were on about half of the tables which I’m sure were for the folks getting off of work to start their weekends. The drinks menu starts with a «Flavour Map» to show what drinks are Sweet, Sour, Bitter, and Strong. I went with the Miss Penelope which was what I was looking for — sweet and fruity. You get complimentary popcorn and although we didn’t order any food, the menu descriptions looked appetizing.

A very suave hipster kinda bar tucked away in Regent Place. Assembly is decorated in a bohemian industrial way with some good mood lighting for intimacy. It has a faux outdoor garden area for those wishing to dream a little further. The cocktails are fancy and showy, and the prices are typically what you’d find in Sydney. There’s also free popcorn! The food is not bad too.

Nifty cocktails and free popcorn!!! Yes, free popcorn! And its self serve which is even better! Located at Regents place near Miss Chu’s, its a random place for a bar but also a great spot because of the food outlets near it! They have indoor and ‘outdoor’ seating. Bartenders are pretty helpful when you are stuck on which cocktail to choose and so forth. Have only been here for drinks so can only comment on that.

Get bar with get cocktails. This place is bit not the pricy side of thing, but they have amazing/award winning cocktails. The bar is divided in the outdoor patio(still in the mall) and the bar area. Personally I like the outside, great atmosphere and not way too loud.

Yummy food and amazing cocktails! The bar staff were very friendly and not at all pretentious which is what I expected. I recommend the dead man’s punch 2 crystal skull head cocktail for 6(though much better when shared between just 2) — tasted just like passiona.

Thank you Unilocal for helping me find this bar! After a wonderful dinner at Chefs Gallery we were looking for a place for some cocktails and Assembly was right there so we thought. why not? And we were not disappointed! It was fairly busy on a Tuesday night but we secured a small table near the bar. The bartenders were fun and knowledgeable, we were quite indecisive so the bartender recommended that try The Voodoo cocktail. It came served in a Day of the Dead skull smoking from dry ice with two shot glasses. The menu said it served 4, we got about 3 and a bit of the shot glasses each out of it(there were 2 of us). It was a fantastic and fun drink! Tasted kind of like the American candy Jolly Ranchers but with alcohol! We then moved on to rum and fresh apple juice which was equally as fantastic. Kraken Rum is delicious!!! Definitely a good place to go for after work drinks, I’m assuming it’s not open into the wee hours of the morning considering it’s location but that’s not really an issue. Start your night here for some fun cocktails and keep going!

Apparently I was not standing in the service area… but gave me a try of the wine because he didn’t know if it was an okay or fruity chardonnay…

Ended up here after the work Xmas party. Quite a bit after. It was the hardcore party crowd that was left by the time we arrived here. Its a nice little industrial themed bar. Good selection of beers(all bottled… nothing on tap) but its main attraction(to everyone except me) was the cocktails. Someone got stuck into stuff made from a Polish buffalo grass vodka. Someone else got stuck into French Gin. When I staggered out of there, Mr Tequila had come out to play and shots were being done at the bar. I stick with the beer as cocktails are just not my thing. The food looked good but didn’t get a chance to try any as we were all stuffed after our tapas. Nice place. Good atmosphere, nice vibe, good drinks. Just round the corner from work too… I think I’ll be back.

It was finally Friday, and I needed somewhere to unwind. Not being a Sydney native I needed a recommendation, so I turned to Unilocal. The atmosphere of Assembly is a bit like the taste of a dark and stormy — bold, with a hint of sweetness leaving a warm feeling inside. I was the only customer when I arrived at 4pm, naturally. However, Jason kindly introduced himself and sparked a conversation, making me feel right at home. My two drinks were the classic Negroni, and the Gosling’s Dark and Stormy. These two drinks are my yardstick for bars, not to mention my all time favourites. Jason made both of these for me, and they were spot on – ten out of ten. If you haven’t ever tried either of these, do yourself a favour and check them out. Keep up the good work Assembly!

Tucked away in Regent Place is a cool, industrial small bar… I’ve been several times and each time has been great. It never gets too packed, the staff is super friendly, the music is good and the drinks/food are on point. Assembly closes a little early, due to its location so it’s more of a place to get drinks after work or to eat/drink before you head off elsewhere to continue the fun. Try their wide range of beers and cocktails… I don’t have any specifics as they’ve all been pretty good for me. I haven’t tried their burgers but I’m told they’re pretty good. I typically get the pork sliders(yum) and fries. The cheese/truffle sauce is more like a gravy… delicious. Great place to bring a date or meet up with some friends.

This is a great bar with a fun relaxed vibe. The location of this bar is a bit strange, in the middle of regent place surrounded by Asian eateries. However once you step inside you forget where you are. The place is lively with great music and fun bar staff. The bar wasnt very crowded on a Saturday night which to me is a plus given other bars in the city where people are sandwiched in. They have a good selection of beers and wine which are reasonably priced. The also have interesting cocktails served in skull head jugs which I have to try next time! Its a great place for pre dinner/post dinner drinks.

I really should have come here sooner. Its been on my list for awhile, but for some reason it never moved from a «to do» to a «now do». Great selection of bottled beers that run from $ 8-$ 12/bottle(more for the weird high alcohol content stuff). The price is what you’d expect in the CBD, except that it feels a bit out of place on the edge of China Town. Our White Rabbit Darks, Three Sheets, Red Label and Blue Star were all $ 9 per. The wings were a good base, crispy and juicy– they just need to get the sauce right. I’d put money on the hot sauce they served up being MasterFoods Chili which, while not horrid, ain’t the best for wings.(Maybe try some Franks, guys!) The pork belly sliders were nothing to write home about. Whatever the«warm» taste was was a let down, and the belly was placed so one bite was all crackling, and the rest was all — lacking. Then we had the green chili burger. Loved it. Will be back for that little gem. And for the friendly bearded bartenders who were happy to tell me all about the various beer offerings and discuss the pros and cons of slicing fried pickles crosswise v lengthwise.

I went here last night but didn’t stay too long because I really wanted to get some food. I like this place though. It’s not too crowded so you don’t have to wait ages to get a drink and the bar staff is really friendly. They also make great cocktails! I had a dark and stormy and they make their own ginger beer! The only downside for me is that you have to use a communal bathroom that smells horrid and is quite disgusting.

Finding this quiet-but-not-too-quiet bar deep in the excellent Regent Place was an oasis in the hideous desert that is a busy Friday night in the city. Great(and very attractive) bar-peeps, a great wine list(hardly exhaustive but great wines), and a really excellent atmosphere. It reminded me of a dark mineshaft minus the dirt. …I know that doesn’t sound great but it really is.

Updates on food: — Sweet potato couscous salad($ 14) is excellent. — Pork belly sliders($ 14) are pretty mediocre — poor quality bread, uninteresting flavours. — Pork and truffle hot dog($ 10) is similarly average. Actually, the sausage tasted OK but the cheese sauce was kind of gross and left an awful aftertaste in my mouth. Notes on bar: The drinks here are pretty expensive but the ambience is nice for after-work drinks. Not too packed and the décor is super cool(industrial chic meets AstroTurf kitsch). You can reserve a picnic table on the AstroTurf in the outside section free of charge, so long as you get there before a certain time(I forget when, but I think it’s around 6 pm).

Great cocktails — the list is very inventive. The staff is quite knowledgeable as well. Their selection of liquor is fantastic, and even if they don’t know how to make a cocktail you name, they’ll look it up and mix it up for you.

It’s about time there’s a spacious cool bar around Town Hall. Originally, I had read about this place in Time Out Sydney and finally when I had gone the first time, I ended up returning for lunch the next day. It could definitely turn into one of those places that I just end up at all the damn time. I had the Pork Belly Sliders and split a bowl of Fries(YES!!! They’re called FRIESSSSS!!! hahaha) with cheese and truffle sauce. Thicker fries, with the right amount of crispiness on the outside yet still soft on the inside. Curious to see what this place would be like during the night.
