It’s ice cream with lollies and chocolate mashed in. That is all you need to know. Expect to make yourself sick with overindulgence(worth it!) but watch your hip pocket when getting carried away — mix ins are 90cents a pop.

I am a fan of Cold Rock. It is pricey, yes, but as an every now and then treat it definitely hits the spot. It isn’t the world’s best ice cream but all the lolly and chocolate minx-ins make up for any shortcomings in that department. My personal favourite is white chocolate with rasberries and/or cookie dough. Heaven. St Kilda Cold Rock understandably does a roaring trade during summer so expect to have to elbow your way to the front of the line.

I do love the idea of Cold Rock. Ice cream smashed up and mixed with a delectable range of confectionary, what’s not to love? The prices. Thats what not to love. While you can come up with some seriously delicious combinations(vanilla ice cream, raspberries and malteasers is my own personal favourite) the prices just continue to escalate. For a small serving with two extras I paid upwards of $ 6 and it just isn’t worth it. So as good as this stuff tastes, I won’t be going back. I can’t afford to. Great concept, its just such as shame that Cold Rock is so overpriced.

Being by the located right by the beach Fitzroy Street seems an obvious choice for an ice cream store. Although there are many gelato and ice creameries on Acland Street, Fiztroy seemed to miss the boat, so it was with open arms that the St Kilda community greeted the addition of the ice cream chain Cold Rock. 100% Australian owned and made Cold Rock is fantastic for a cold, tasty treat. There are four steps to choosing your ice cream at cold rock, first you choose your flavour base, bubblegum, vanilla, mango, chocolate. Then you select your extras these are things like kit kat, caramel fudge, skittles, marshmallows, The Cold Rock team will smash all this together on an ice cold rock so that it doesn’t melt and serve it up to you to enjoy YUM! Cold Rock also do specialty treats like banana splits, ice cream cakes and sundaes. If your on your way to the beach I would definitely suggest stopping by cold rock to cool you down.
