Fantastic restaurant experience! We went on a Saturday night for a 7.45pm booking for four and in short they provided great service, very tasty and great value food. Highly recommend«The Feast» — 5 scrumptious shared courses between 4 people and only $ 55 a head — fantastic value and wonderful service. We booked a booth and it wasn’t ready immediately, but were provided with complimentary drinks. Great attentive service from the start to finish — thank you & congratulations Romulus & Remus!

Had lunch here on a Monday with my elderly parents. Apparently the evenings are very popular but a relatively quiet lunch time served us well. It’s was wonderful that R&R is open on a Monday too as its not uncommon for restaurants to take the Monday off. We were attracted to R&R after trying their spectacular pâté at Toorak Cellars, it’s exceptional. The menu had plenty of fabulous options and we were all really pleased with our choices. The deserts were fabulous too. The venue has a special feel about it too and the staff were just delightful in every respect, professional, knowledgeable and fun. Very much looking forward to visiting again and would recommend putting it on your list of restaurants to try.

The lamb pizza was amazing. Never in million years would I have dreamed up putting most of the ingredients in a pizza but I am sure glad they did. The crust was perfect. The bar tender, Luke, was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions to this foreigner. Very nice experience.

3.5 Stars — Ambiance is nice, just the right lighting, not too loud(open floor plan), temperature tends to go back and forth between warm and cold(location used to be an indoor virtual golf range). Pros: Knowledgeable and friendly staff, nice menu selection, food presentation and size, at times service was prompt Cons: Wine selection could be better(not bad, just wanted more of a selection), shared tables(not a fan, especially for such a nice place), fix the varying temperature, at times we were looking for our server Try the Arancini Balls — lite, fluffy and very flavourful.

We went there last night with friends. They selected the place as they’re locals. The service was reasonable. Interior is large and airy. It wasn’t packed but was fairly noisy by end of the evening. The salt and pepper squid entrée was yum, and the crispy gnocchi is recommended. Dessert selection was a bit limited.

I would give the food 4 stars, and the service 2, averaging it out, 3 stars. We made a booking for 5 people on a Thursday night at Romulus & Remus, and good thing that we did, because even several weeks out from the event, they were heavily booked and we had to modify our planned dinner time to later than expected. Somewhat strangely located at the very end of Bridge Road, the interior was pleasant — it’s a large space, but not as noisy as you might expect. Dinnerware was lovely, as was the food presentation. The food was actually excellent, but unfortunately we didn’t get to eat it all, as the very overzealous wait staff snatched up several of our main meal plates(while others were still eating) while our shared side dishes were still sitting in the middle of the table, barely touched. Was kinda getting to those!(Please teach wait staff how to read cutlery — we will signal to you when we are done!) Overall, the wait staff were the let down of the night. We were repeatedly pushed to order before we were ready, prompted to re-order drinks(no thanks, we’re driving!), the waitress couldn’t tell us the ingredients of several dishes(when checking if they had any ingredients unsuitable for pregnant women), and then they were just busting to clear the plates away! It was clear that there were no later bookings after us(the restaurant was half empty by now), but we still got the impression our wait staff just wanted all the customers to pack up and clear out ASAP! We all felt rather bustled out, and for that reason, probably won’t be back. Plus, rather limited and overpriced options for wine by the glass.

Woah. Seriously YOUMUSTEATTHISPIZZA. Excuse me if I drool a little while writing this. We had the Lamb Kofta pizza with delicious caramelised onions, toasted pine nuts and the most addictive smoky flavour. The kids had the Margherita which was perfection. The place was booked out but they happily found us a spot(on a Saturday night). Nothing is too hard for the warm staff. We’ll be back again and again! Luckily we live around the corner. Ignore the haters.

Oh how I wish for 3 ½ stars for this statement restaurant. Like most locals I’ve been watching the space for months, curiously wondering what this ‘Italian Feasting’ place was going to be about. Firstly, it’s stunning. Light, open, airy with a big fridge of gorgeous salami and other such meats. Promises which are delivered, the meats are stunning. I dined with a group and we were in the back room — it’s an Italian restaurant so I’m going to call it a wine cave. It’s the perfect function room for up to 14 people and for $ 45 pp(you can add dessert and cheese for a little extra) it’s a winner. The cave has wine bottles surrounding with rendered walls and it feels good. Warm, friendly and good energy. Secondly the service was perfect. Never pushy, very accommodating, filling up glasses as required — couldn’t fault the service. The wine was also excellent with a generous selection of local wines. We chose a Mornington pinot and were well rewarded. Very well priced too. The only thing is, and I hoped it would be so good — the food. It was nice, tasty even and there were some real highlights but it was just ok. The salami and bread were perfection but the pizza was not and the pasta terribly under seasoned. We had the duck risotto and the mushroom and almond butter pasta. With so many good pizza places around it has to be better to contend. So my recommendation would be to go in a group and do just as we did but embrace it for the experience rather than the food. OR go on a date or a catch up with one other person, dip into the gorgeous pinot and order yourself a slab of that salami. And THAT would be a five star experience.

Went here for a casual Sunday night dinner with the husband. Lovely attentive service. We sat at the front near one of the olive trees(built into the centre of the table) to watch the world go by. We were asked if we preferred tap or sparkling water as soon as we were seated and it was promptly brought over. They also brought some bread with olive oil to nibble on as we perused the menu. We had a beer and glass of prosecco to start which were poured at the bar. We then shared a chilli prawn pizza and the gnocchi special which came with chorizo and a pea purée. Both meals were tasty with the pizza having a good base(crispy and thin but not so much so that it became soggy in the middle from the toppings). The husband finished off with a latte that had excellent crema & which he enjoyed! A nice addition to Bridge Road. We’ll be back!

Named for the twin brothers from Roman mythology, Romulus & Remus is a fine addition to the Yarra end of Bridge Road. R&R is an expansive space. The floorspace is huge in itself, only amplified by the high ceilings. This gives the place a great buzz — as long as it’s busy. I went on a Friday night. We were able to get a table, but otherwise it was crammed. I kept within the lines and shared a pizza(Margarita naturally) and a few sides. No complaints there. If I did have a gripe, it’s the place feels sterile. There is a manufactured feel to the decoration. This is exacerbated by the huge volume. Maybe on that scale it’s hard to pull off rustic and charming; which they appear to be going for. A big crowd can build a buzz or make a place feel like a club. R&R was more of the latter for me. Still. Didn’t detract too much. Still a great venue and one to try if you’re in the ‘hood.
