Beef brisket noodles are excellent. But the service is chaotic. The chili sate on the tables is mostly just oil. Don’t bother complaining about *anything* here, because they don’t care. Enter, order, eat, pay, leave. Not for fussy people.

The one thing that I like about living in Preston is the number of authentic Asian restaurants dotted along High Street. Ever since going to Hong Kong I have had a hankering for proper Chinese food. This isn’t the food that you find at the Chinese stall in the food hall, but rather a restaurant owned and run by Chinese, and the worse their English, the more authentic the restaurant tends to be. Okay, it’s not Hong Kong, but then again unless you are willing to put aside a week to travel there and back, these restaurants are probably the best that you are going to get. This certainly wasn’t a bad restaurant. The staff were ever friendly, and it certainly seems popular, and they also have chop-sticks, which for me is an absolute must when it comes to eating Chinese food. The cool thing about these restaurants is that they have pictures of all the dishes, so you can just flick through the menu and point to the dish you want. However, be careful not to make the mistake that I made and point to the wrong one because you might end up with a meal that you don’t particularly like. Oh, I better not forget, they also have pots of Chinese tea for $ 1.00 each, which is also pretty cool.

Terrible service. Tables never cleared. Food very average. Noodles are by far the winner here.

It’s newer and less grungier than its city counterpart, and I’ve come here a number of times since it opened. Be warned that the servings are fairly large if you order main dishes. Come for the food(which is great), but be prepared to lower your expectations around service.

Ok so the Noodle Kingdom in Preston has a few noticeable differences from its city sister. Theres no fancy red and gold wallpaper and theres no suits. The clientele is mainly Preston locals and the destination diners. The menu is exactly the same and I am grateful for this. Over lunch and weeknights this place experiences the same peak hour rush as the city Noodle Kingdom but due to the suburban location of this restaurant theres a slightly more relaxed vibe. Its not unusual to see people waiting five deep in a queue for the freshly prepared dumplings and noodles. I’ve already detailed my fetish for their dumplings and the no 29(beef/noodles) however you can add the no 94(fried chicken/noodles) and beef skewers to the list. The beef skewers are a grilled/spiced cummin delight and great to chew on. Prices are cheap and the service is blunt, this place delivers consistently great food, however a word of warning, go easy on the chilli.
