Pretty impressed with what was on offer at CY O’Connor! Perth turned on the sunshine early in Spring and a friend and I sat outdoors for lunch. Good options available for both indoor and outdoor seating and great for groups and families too. We shared a meat platter, arancini, white chocolate pannacotta and adult rocky road. The arancini was probably my highlight, along with the pannacotta surprisingly, which is not usually something I order but the delicious crunchy, sticky hazelnut praline was delicious. I think the adult rocky road missed the mark a little — it sounded like it had so much potential, shame it tasted pretty simple unfortunately for something that is quite easy to create.

I was unimpressed. And only because the server got my meal wrong. Somehow lasagne turned into a beef & bacon burger. The good thing was the waitress who messed it up did come over to me and admired it was her fault and apologized. She offered me a free drink. Now, here’s the bit that annoyed me. By the time my actual meal arrived, my dining partner had completely finished his steak — which at that price I wasn’t letting him let it get cold. So not only did I have to wait for my food, he had to wait for me to eat it. We were both inconvenienced, so why couldn’t two free drinks be provided to make up for the inconvenience Food wise– pretty good once you actually get your meal. Will be back, I’ll just aim for a different waitress who writes orders down.

Not bad for a impulsive decision. We ordered for two adults and an 8 year old… all the food arrived at the same time. I had the Lamb Shank with beans and sweet patato. My partner and daughter had fish and chips. The portions are not very big but the shank and veggies as well as fish was very tasty. For desert we had white chocolate pannacotta raspberry coulis, hazelnut praline… WOW!!!

With so much hype i thought this place would be amazing. .how disappointed i was to discover a drab, dirty and expensive dump of a pub. The night i was there it was packed and the carpets were filthy. The tables and chairs are cheap and mismatched and the food was cold. I was surprised to discover how much my bill was considering the quality of the food was abysmal. Never again!

Amazing steaks, really tender and so tasty! The fact they supply their own beef is another really cool thing. Loved the James Squires Orchard Crush on tap too! Other recommendations would be the ribs and the steak sandwich, which just finished in the Top 5 for best Steak Sandwich in Perth 2015. Awesome and so tasty!

I love CY O’Connors for their consistent awesome service. Every time I’m here they are always attentive and serve with a smile. The wood fired pizzas are amazing and they make the most incredible steak sandwich ever. It’s also handy that they’re on my way home from work. Friday bevvvies anyone?

I live so close to this place and after driving past dozens of times decided to finally drop in for lunch. What a gem of a place. it was a beautiful sunny day so we chose to sit outside amongst the couple of other patrons(lunch weekday). Great atmosphere even with hardly anyone there, they had good music going and service was great. We chose the buffalo wings to start, finger licking delicious almost wanted another plate ! For mains I had the wagu burger, the bun was buttered and beautifully toasted giving it that lovely gloss, patty thick and juicy, chips not too overdone just golden and crunchy and seasoned perfectly. Will definitely be returning here regularly and now have a great option when friends ask«where shall we go to eat»

CY O’Connor seems to have gotten a lot busier in the last few months. The last time I came was 7 or 8 months ago on a Saturday night and it was more or less empty, and food service had stopped by around 20:00. I went last week at around 19:30 and it was packed! The atmosphere had changed a lot as well — they had a DJ in the outdoor area which was packed with people, the indoor restaurant area was full as well but we were accommodated in an additional upstairs area. It didn’t have table service but we were asked if it would be a problem before we were seated. I ordered the ‘braise of the day’ which was a lamb shank on a bed of mash with green beans. There was nothing overly wrong with it, but it definitely wasn’t the best lamb shank I’ve ever had, and it was a little tough. I think that CY O’Connor has gone down the wrong avenue with their menu — they offer a lot of restaurant-style meals mixed with more traditional pub food and I think they’ve missed the mark a little here. I think the menu was lacking in creativity and when the meals arrived there were some solid flavours in there, but the dishes weren’t well executed. I will say that the staff were great — very friendly and accommodating. It has a great atmosphere, and I will probably be back, but I think next time I’ll stick to drinks and pub snacks.

Not winning me over, nice place but just misses something. Food was very salty, my medium steak was bought out on nothing more than a bed of mash, the steak was over done and covered in salt. My wife’s garlic prawns was more like prawns in leak soup and was again covered in salt. Hope they pick their game up because it could be an awesome venue.
