The Face Shop

Short and sweet — what this itty bitty store lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. The Face Shop sells a wide range of exceptionally effective cosmetics and skin care products at fairly reasonable prices. I like the simplicity, the emphasis on nature and how my skin feels after using their stuff.
The full story — I started using Face Shop products when the Korean brand first made it to Taiwan in 2004 and have been buying them ever since. I was over the moon when I found this shop in Perth after I moved back here from Asia.
I have a confession to make: back then, I was completely addicted to Korean soap operas. I’m embarrassed to say I first noticed The Face Shop because I had a massive crush on their rep, Korean hunk Kwon Sang Woo, the K-​Drama actor in series like Sad Love Story and Stairway to Heaven. Because I was so busy drooling at his face, which was plastered all over the shop walls, I paused long enough for the sales ladies to use a batch of different testers on me. I really liked the smell and feel of the products, bought some and have never looked back.
One thing you pick up from their soap operas is that Koreans are VERY big on beauty products and The Face Shop is a proud part of this tradition. The company has held campaigns promoting equal opportunity in the workplace in South Korea, which I think is fab. They are also against animal testing, which is extremely important to me.
I am a huge fan of so many of their products that I can’t pick a favourite, but I particularly like their foam cleansers, herb day make-​up removing wipes, green tea toner, white jewel peeling, sake body wash, chia seed sebum control moisture cream, nose strips, eye patches and face masks… phew!

I absolutely love the Face Shop for their unique take on good beauty. I absolutely detest walking in to The Body Shop and spending millions of dollars on beauty products. I think the Face Shop is a healthy, happy alternative.
I’ve used most of their face masks, which are amazing for your skin. Their nail polish is really great. And the best thing about them is the cheap, but really quality range of false eyelashes they have. I use them all the time and they are really simple but they look really natural.
This is a really great store– get ready for it to blow up.

The Face Shop is a Korean based store selling natural beauty products, such as makeup, makeup brushes and cleansers, similar to The Body Shop. The products are very cheap and in terms of makeup are a very good base and have smooth application. I have been using their professional oil free foundation for a while now, it is long lasting, leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated and has very even coverage. This foundation comes in a silver tube and should be used more as a base foundation to ensure your skin tones are even. It is an essential beauty product for me now as it comes in shades of beige, green and purple. As odd as this may sound, these colours are used depending on your skin tone, for instance the green base foundation should be used on people with redness as it eliminates these pink undertones before applying your actual foundation colour. I would definitely suggest checking this store out if your into light, natural products that don’t leave your skin feeling oily and heavy.
