I have been here a few times and have always found the burgers to be of a consistently good quality. We went for a sneaky work day lunchtime burger and we greeted with a smile by a delightful english girl. The layout is some inside seating and a few outdoor tables but there is a big glass window/door which when the weather is fine they open up. Unfortunately on this day it was pouring with rain and we sat near the door so when we were getting a bit of a cool draft they were quick to close it up. I find a lot of the gourment chain burger joints have a similar sort of menu and I feel while being a little different, Burger Bistro still drops into this mould. On this day i bought the Big Smoke. The meat was juicy and a good ratio to the sour dough bread which was superbly toasted. Pancetta was nice, a really good bbq sauce in it and the emmental cheese was melted to perfection. A little bit of lettuce, tomato and red onion but not over the top on the salads. Would happily eat this again or order another delicious burger off the menu. The chips were deliciously crunchy but i wasn’t a fan of the tomato relish, but that is just a personal preference. Overall, this is my favourite of the gourmet burger chains, easily beating out grill’d and controversially Jus which i know a lot of people love.

Burger #269: Sorry Australia Hi Australia, you’ve let me down again. There is a misconception(at least here in the states) that Australia is home to amazing beef and that if you throw a rock in any direction, you’ll hit some near Japanese quality beef. Sadly, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. In my five trips to Australia in the last couple years, I sought out the best steaks and burgers and all(save for one) fell flat. Burger Bistro was no exception. The fact that Australian restaurants refuse to cook meat med-rare or rare is a crime and cause for national revolt. The fact alone is a huge handicap for all purveyors of beef. This was hugely apparent at the Bistro when my bunless meat puck came to the table. Cooked well past medium, the patty had little chance to remain tender. Lucky for me, I forgot to ask them to hold the cheese, and the added fat provided some relief to the dried out meat: Another saving grace was that the bacon was salty enough to make up for the lack of seasoning in the tightly packed burger. Sigh, I’m rooting for you Australia, I really am. But so far the best food I’ve had in your country is Asian food make by people not from your country. Maybe it would be best to stick it to the Japanese and steal their cows you raise and stop exporting the good stuff. But that will only work when you allow your people to stop overcooking it.

A notch above the usual burger place. Sourdough buns are a nice touch and the chicken is delicious. The chips are damn good too. It was very quiet for a Friday night and had our burgers out to us quickly.

I feel really bad for Burger Bistro, because since Grill’d has opened in Shafto Lane, this place is nowhere near as busy and the sad thing is, it’s SO much better than Grill’d and hopefully once the Grill’d hype dies down, everyone will realise that! I have lunch here about once a fortnight and I like how you can have a wine(or a beer) with your meal and the menu is pretty big. There are some interesting choices. The blue cheese burger is rich but delicious, but my favourite is the big smoke. I always order it now and the beef is always perfectly cooked — a little pink and very tender, and always fresh. And love the New Norcia buns.

My favourite burger place. Our office sends people to buy them and bring them back. Blue Steel and Big Smoke and the Brie Annbry are great.

I am not a big burger person. I definitely don’t do the burgers from fast food places like Maccas or HJs. The Burger Bistro in Shafto Lane has the right mix of ambience, with different music playing, location in the beautiful Shafto Lane, excellent customer service and of course yummy gourmet burgers. Australian Angus beef and New Norcia buns make these some of the best gourmet burgers in Perth. If you like it hot and spicy like me try their Beef Spice Trail, with coriander leaves, chilli and green chilli jam. The chips are also very good, not mass manufactured, but homemade style with lots of taste. The only issue I have is with the Shafto Lane store, they do not take reservations for groups, as they are just too small. Head to the Leederville store instead.

I really enjoyed my lunch at the Burger Bistro, they sell beer and wine, have funky music playing interested printed canvases. What I like is that they use free range eggs which is no doubt a more expensive move but even though I’m poor I would rather eat happy eggs, so kudos to Burger Bistro they also use Australian Angus Beef and local New Norcia bread buns. I got the Belle of the Ball which was a monster of a pattie, red onions, stacks of beautiful mushrooms, lettuce and delicious tomato relish for $ 14.95. The verdict, quite delicious, I like the pricing here for a side of chips it is $ 2.95 extra but maybe I’m better off for not having the chips included.

I have quite the sick obsession with burger joints, I seem to have tried almost all that Perth has to offer, and as cliché as it may be, Jus burgers in Leederville is still winning. I love the location of this place, it makes the experience all the more exciting and magical. This darling place serves some of the most delicious burger I have ever tasted and to be honest gives Jus burgers a run for its money! Mainly because the burgers it sells are so different, a real focus on healthy foods. The have a great range of veggie burgers which keeps me very happy! This is one burger place that needs to be checked out by all!

The Burger Bistro is an interesting twist on a tradition burger. They use a cripsy sourdough roll, which makes it a little more gourmet than most burger joints. They also use free range meat and quality ingredients, so even though you’re eating a burger, you feel good about it. Is that possible? With Bistro Burger, hell yes. I had the Gourmet New Yorker burger. The burger had a succulent CAAB beef patty, sharp cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and a little bit of greens. It was delicious. The meat was moist, and not overcooked. The burger cost me $ 16, but I was totally satisfied. I even splurged on their chips, which were thick and chunky(served with garlic mayo) and only $ 2.60! This is a burger joint fit for foodies.

Shafto Lane is a pleasant place to be, its a little sun trap so it is always light, the bricks of the buildings are exposed, there are several trees covering some of the smell of the road on either side and it is a little windy lane filled with restaurants, and quirky shops. It is the perfect place to go for lunch, and after a morning shopping or exploring the city, there is nowhere better to go than The Burger Bistro. It is a little different to other burger joints as it uses New Norcia spelt sourdough for it’s bun, which is a lot lighter and easier on the stomach. Their burgers also come with some interesting and creative mixes for their patties that make it a whole nutritious meal, for example there are burgers which include mushrooms or an array of veggies such as zucchini, or even patties made from chorizo. My favourite would have to be ‘the rose and thyme’, a local free range chicken breast marinated in rosemary, thyme, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil with salad, and their signature garlic mayo as dressing. My mouth is watering just talking about it. It’s delicious, filling and you leave wondering when the next time you can go back will be.
