It was several years ago I came here however definitely needs a mention. Was taken here for a breakfast date on a spring morning so the weather was perfect. I loved this little hidden café so quaint. The staff were lovely and the coffee was delicious. I had tomato and feta on rye toast although it sounds plain it was flavoursome and Morrish. Great place to start the day if you’re gonna be in the city.

Service is everything and maybe I woke up in the wrong side of the bed but I just felt compelled to have my rant. These guys are a 45 second walk from where I work and I’ve been hanging out to have breaks here. On arrival I see that for a Friday morning, it’s pretty quiet even considering its 8:10am! I go inside and order their special, $ 12 eggs on toast with any coffee. However you can’t cook any food because you’ve got a large group coming in and the kitchen is closed. If that’s the case, take the signs away and close the shop instead of turning people away. I decided to stay because I don’t want to search around for somewhere else to go. I order a croissant and takeaway coffee… $ 8 but you have the nerve to add on another 20c because I want to use paypass. Wow, what an amazing customer service experience. On top of that you give me a coffee that is burnt and a cold croissant. Never coming back here again!

Dropped by quickly for coffees & it was terrible. They forgot the order & forgot the other coffee. The take away juice was opened so I couldn’t put it in a bag — In the end they just stuffed an aluminium foil over the top & wanted to add my credit card surcharge for the order I forgot! Chai latte tasted like drain water sprinkled with chai. Had to throw it out. Not worth the wait.

you know you hear about a secret garden and enchanting, quant come to mind. well they do for me and that’s just what it is. plus it really is a secret garden. I would bet money in the fact that 80% of people walking past don’t even know its there and that just the way I like it. it really is a special place and best not for the masses. it’s got a beautiful charm and is unique for Perth.

Enter from the wolf lane side and you walk in through the sodden gates and into a place of peace tranquillity good coffee and a newspaper to read. Tucked away just enough to let you forget you are in the city for a brief moment. The coffee was lovely and the prices not over the top for the cafes central location. Indoor or outdoor seating and there was some tantalising food options on display but I was after a coffee and a read of the paper this time. A good place to enjoy a coffee away from the hustle and bustle of the city

Secrets are indulgent, intense, naughty and normally bubble away at the surface until one day I crack and spill the beans. So this tucked away, hidden zen oasis in the city is an office lovers paradise. The highlight of my takeaway medium flat white($ 4.20) was walking through the wooden gates and forgetting for a minute that I had to go to work. The staff were friendly and even indulged me in my not so funny joke about the café being secret. I scanned my rewardle barcode — 4th coffee free and walked back out into reality, however armed with a rich and cream coffee that gave me the energy to work on a beautiful Saturday morning. Everyone loves a gossip, so share this not so secret café!

I met a friend for breakfast here before work. Located behind tiger tiger you can enter from Murray or hay street. Tasty good and coffee. I would recommend the SG Toast with added poached eggs.

The Secret Garden has always granted me a pleasant experience with wonderful food and quality welcoming service. As the name states — it’s well hidden and you could easily walk by unnoticed from Murray St — or mistake it for Tiger Tiger right in front. Very cute, relaxing outdoor sitting area with lots of light, plants and mismatched chairs. Small Menu makes choosing your meal easy! I was excited for the Caesar salad with poached egg until I realised it had anchovies in it after the first few bites! Noooo! The pumpkin, fetta and quinoa salad is lovely — you can add chicken to this for $ 6.50 which compliments the flavours quite nicely and gives you a substantial size meal.

Big fan, I had breakfast at Secret Garden before a conference at CBD. Luckily we arrived early(around 7:30am), when we left the place was getting pretty busy. I had the Eggs Benedict with salmon, it was beautifully prepared, the smoked salmon serve was VERY generous and the hollandaise sauce wasn’t too rich, the sourdough bread was really fresh! Probably baked the same morning. Eggs benedict + long black = about 20 bucks.

Secret Garden is a little hard to find, but that’s one of the great things about it. They are a little on the expensive side for a quick lunch, but their food and ambiance is lovely(something which is still pretty rare in CBD cafes). It’s an ideal choice for a pleasant longer lunch. They also do good specials(listed on the menu). The staff here are lovely, and split billing wasn’t a problem when I went there with a large-ish group, which is pretty awesome.

So there’s no garden but it’s a tiny bit of a secret if you live under a rock and are unaware of this part of the city. The Secret Garden is a blissful place where the cool and the quirky inhabit. Kooky and thought provoking artwork lines the walls and if you are chilling with a coffee you can borrow some of their reading material such as vogue and oyster magazines. The sandwiches here are healthy with beautiful thick bread and tastebud erupting condiments. I had a peaceful time here with my cigarette in hand secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, a little bit expensive but still worth it I must say.

1995 was a big year for romance, two aspects made that seminal year enlightening for those with two ears and a heartbeat. Jerry Maguire hit the silver screen with a bang — for the most part there was not a dry eye in the cinema. New Jersey’s greatest export, Mr Bruce«The Boss» Springsteen released a song crafted for the soundtrack of the film, which captured the hearts of a nation, if not a world. The café with the same name as the aforementioned soft rock ballad has also captured hearts. The regular clientele adore the café’s delicately crafted treats that deliver on flavour. The quirky little spot is a breath of fresh air for the city crowd. This out of the ordinary spot appeals to those who appreciate quality, service and are willing to pay a little extra for some of that love and tenderness that characterized 1995.

As the name suggests, this café is peaceful and welcoming, quietly tucked away from the bustle of Murray St. There are a couple of plants and a backdrop of non-overbearing art pieces that fit in effortlessly with the surrounding décor. You’d probably only find Secret Garden after eating at it’s neighboring café; Tiger Tiger. It’s an unusual location, but this makes it a hidden gem. A place you can find great barista coffee and a really good breakfast or lunch, unbeknownst to most. The name is so fitting. With my tendency to gravitate towards any dish with salmon, I love the ‘Royale’- poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and Hollandaise. Egg yolks suitably gooey, toast unusually tasty, and beautiful hollandaise dressing; this version is close to perfect. The staff are very friendly, and meet any picky request with a chirpy«of course». If like most, you enjoy a café meal, sans attitude(here’s looking at you Tiger, Tiger), venture a little further into the woods and try Secret Garden.

The lack of quirky little places like this in Perth is what frightens me about the future of our fair city. More hidden treasures, I say! This place is absolutely magical. It is like stepping in to something out of Alice in Wonderland. The service is so-so, meaning this is not fine dining by any means. But they are friendly, and laid-back which ultimately matches the atmosphere. My favourite is the grilled vegetable and haloumi stack, which is a must try for vegetarians and carnivores alike. It’s also really decently priced, considering it’s such an alternative little place. Heaps of places that have the«monopoly of coolness» as I like to call it, charge you an arm and a leg.

The Secret Garden is aptly named — it is almost hidden away in a little laneway just off Murray Street. Save for a small sign on Murray Street pointing to its location, it is easy to simply walk past and never notice its existence. Its hidden locale, however, works perfectly for the café. Its resultant location has lent it a certain fairytale ambiance. Upon first encountering The Secret Garden, with its alfresco seating and plants, one can almost imagine being Alice who has just stumbled upon the Mad Hatter’s tea party. The Secret Garden is small and narrow, with most of its seating outside, although there is limited seating inside. However, the true ambiance of The Secret Garden is found outside, so an outdoors table is recommended where possible. The Secret Garden has an excellent choice of beverages, and their coffees are made very well. The cappuccino, for instance, has a great balance of coffee, cream and chocolate powder, with the chocolate sprinkled enough to give the cappuccino its signature taste, without being overpowering or cloying. The food is also excellent, such as their salt and pepper squid. Their caesar salad is well portioned and generous with their bacon and croutons. The Secret Garden is a beautiful café that is worth a visit.
