Maybe my standards have gone higher, or maybe the quality and value for money have got lower. Looking at some of my older Roger David stuff, I’d say it’s probably the latter. Back in the day, I’d buy a jacket that would last me forever. Some of the old jackets I bought years ago, I still have tucked away, & they still keep me warm on cold nights. In recent times though, I’ve been quite disappointed when I step into a store. The stitching is crooked or loose, there’s excess fabric sticking out in visible places, and the fabrics themselves don’t seem to survive more than a few wears. This, is coupled with increasing prices that don’t match the quality that you’d expect when you pay that much.
I’m not saying that it’s all bad, just the hit rate these days for a good article of clothing is much, much lower than before. You really have to dig deep to find that decent piece amongst too much blasé. Still, I’m a bit sentimental, & if I have the time, I will always walk in if I have a bit of time & am passing a store, & every now & then I’m still pleasantly surprised by a good score. :)

Roger David isnt exactly what I would call fashion, half of the stuff is pretty crook as a matter of fact, but considering the options available to dudes in Perth it suffices.
They have a front section with the casual gear and a back area with the suits and jackets which i generally avoid like the plague.
Of the non suit stuff I see no rhyme or reason to what they uphold as tasteful or fashionable — and plenty of it isnt. That said there are always a few collared shirts that look good.
When I was last in there looking for a shirt the over the top dude helping me was disagreeing that the sizing wouldnt fit. As I tried the shirt on and it virtually tore off my back he said — «yeah I have the same problem fitting broad shoulders» as he flexes his fat torso forward as if to indicate his hulk-​dom. Please say I look nothing like him.

I’m a bit of a menswear snob, but some of these chain stores are worth exploring in case there is something rad to be found within them. This seems to be less and less the case at Roger David these days, as their shirts appear to be cut for men with much more developed upper torsos than I. That being said, when I visited here I picked up a kickarse flat-​cap on the cheap, and I have occasionally been known to supplement my supply of trousers with selections from their shelves. They also, on occasion, have some nice jackets; they are mass produced though, so you are highly likely to run into someone with an identical jacket, if that’s a problem for you. The customer service staff in here are OK, though they are of the sort that will say anything to make a sale and have told me on numerous occasions that god-​awful outfits looked perfect on me. By all means, visit this store, but have low expectations and take someone with you who can help you make choices.

I really feel sorry for the men in Perth (well those who appreciate fashion and shopping), they seem to occupy a very small market when it comes to fashion and Roger David is one of the few chain stores that actually have decent and trendy clothes.
I particularly like the fact that they have such a variety of clothes in one shop from really casual every day clothes to formal office wear and even suits. They also have a cool selection of accessories like satchels and duffel bags, ties, belts and my favourite their arty, street wear like jewellery. So if you or your man are lacking in the fashion department and don’t want to break the bank swing past Roger David.

Roger David is one of my favourite mens clothing stores. If I am buying my boyfriend any clothes they will most likely be from here. The one and only one let down for me are the prices. They are pretty expensive especially for guys clothes. My boyfriend isn’t really into fashion so he doesn’t really appreciate clothing, so a $ 100 shirt seems like a waste. But then again I am into fashion and willing to pay the bit extra for quality clothes that are stylish.
It is hard to find decent mens clothing and this for me is the winner.

This is an underrated men’s clothes shop. There’s a bit of a disconnect between the look and branding of the stores — a bit bland and old fashioned — compared to the really nice clothes that they stock. Of course there is a section of the shop that does fit in — all ugly shirts and pointy black shoes, but for the most part the clothes in here are definitely items that I would happily see my boyfriend dress in! And the prices are a lot more reasonable than most other men’s shops in the city.
They also have anice little accessories section with some really cool iPhone covers that I covet terribly!
