Open House Perth. what a brilliant event! As a new arrival to WA I found this to be an interesting and definitely worthwhile event as i got to explore some of Perth’s major buildings and learn about this city’s history along the way. Stand out buildings and tours include Central Park where you got to look out from level 50 and 108 St George’s tce which did one better and let us out in the open to get views from the 51st floor. Council house was extremely interesting thanks to a very knowledgable tour guide volunteer. It was great fun to tour the chambers(this was even more exciting as I’m a big parks n rec fan. was kind of expecting Leslie knope to jump out!) We even got to duck our heads into the duxton hotel; very fancy indeed. We were also lucky enough to get onto the backstage tour for the State Theatre Centre. this was such a great experience! there are so many backstage and underground tunnels, rooms and stairwells. what a maze; who would’ve thought! I only managed to explore the CBD on the Sunday but will definitely make an effort to check out the other locations next time round!

2012 marked the first Open House Perth. Open House is your key to buildings and spaces, some that you would never normally be able to have access to. Architecture, interiors, landscape, public art and urban design were all on show, telling the story of Perth’s past, present and future. Highlights of the 2012 Open House were Alan Bond’s past penthouse and the yet to be opened Perth Arena and much more. Such a wonderful event, that we’re very lucky to have in our city, get involved!
