Tiny small eatery near Barrack street that does hand made noodles dishes. They told me it’s northern China dishes. The soup comes in these really large bowl. Don’t worry, the noodle and meat are standard portion, it’s just a lot of soup. I ordered the Beef with pickle vegetable noodle soup. The beef were tender and the noodles al dente. Soup delicious. Pretty good. I also tried the pig trotter, it was bit bland for my taste and not much meat. A definite try would be their chinese burger. It tasted fresh, toasty soft and tasty fillings. Will come back check out other dishes during my lunch break.

I really like the texture of the noodles here, which is surprising because I’m a bit of a picky noodle primadonna. The pidai mian(belt noodles) are cool and something I’ve not seen for a long time. I also like the simple, no nonsense I’m-here-to-pay-attention-to-my-food layout of the restaurant. It reminds me of noodle joints I frequented when I lived in Taiwan and the PRC(except with way taller stools). I just didn’t find the topping particularly tasty. It was OK. Maybe it’s because I got the veggie noodles. I don’t know. I don’t think that’s a particularly good excuse though because I’ve had absolutely amazing vegetarian noodles all over China; China kicks butt when it comes to veggie dishes. For this reason, it was doubly disappointing to eat slightly bland noodles in an otherwise authentic noodle joint.

Went here today to get out of the office. It is a small place, bit on the canteen style café. I ordered the 5 Spice Vegetarian Noodles. I asked for med-hot. To be honest, I didn’t taste any spice at all. The noodles were quite salty & very chewy. I would go back for another dish.

These guys get noodles. Mr Bun on Murray A tiny little eatery situated on Murray Street this place screams«TRYME» when you walk past it. And walk past it I did, several times. I think the one time I decided to eat there the chef was scared of me as I kept walking past them like I was casing the joint. Really glad I decided I was too hungry to wait till I got home for the foodings. The menu is small, tiny and in badly written English. But it has huge pictures so the first time I was there I just pointed to an image and exclaimed. «That one!» They do a small array of noodle dishes, where you can choose your broth and type of noodle.(I recommend the belt noodle) Do yourself a favour, don’t get take out. As the man behind the counter will advise you, the noodles are prone to losing their awesomeness if you don’t eat them straight away. Not to mention the dine in dishes come in bowls bigger than my torso. Some nice snacky varieties as well. The Chinese Burger is fantastic.(Pulled pork in hot Chinese Bread.) The Skin noodles are a nice cold treat perfect for summer time, with many other hearty spicy broth filled options. The noodles are freshly made everyday. And some of the best I’ve had. My favourite is the Braised Beef Noodle and I like to get it very hot. So Hot, that last time I had it I dropped my spoon in the bowl, which much to the amusement of my friend, caused a tiny drop of chili infused soup water to land directly onto my eyeball. Basically I closed my eyes tight and tried to eat blind until the tears stopped flowing. I will be back though. The Chinese burger is calling me.

This place is so easy to find, on Murray St near the Barrack St intersection, although the red chinese lanterns outside certainly help. When you first go in, you will notice one thing straight away — whoever came up with the names for the dishes either wasn’t very creative, liked to be very literal, or English wasn’t their first language. The feeling compounds when you open up the menu and realize that it’s split between chinese and english descriptions. The menu itself is hard to follow, however the food is legitimate. The noodles are definitely hand made, and the soup and meat are as close to authentic Taiwanese noodles as you can get in Perth(as far as I know). The big let down was the Mr Bun bun, which looked like a sad deflated burger, without the flavoursome burger taste. I left thinking maybe Mr Bun should have been called Mr Noodle instead.

4 months old, this small Chinese takeaway place specialises in traditional home-made noodles. They have sliced, stretched and cold skin noodles(made with wheat flour) on offer with traditional braised meat. Mr Bun has a simple design, limited menu, very open space with limited seating. Order at the till — cash preferred as it’s $ 10 minimum on eftpos and you’re greeted with a cheerful smile and promised you’ll enjoy. I tried the Chinese pork burger which mainly consisted of pork with a few spring onions encased in a flat bread bun. It was deliciously greasy, light and for $ 4.99 I was happy. I can’t wait to try out all the noodle options when things start getting colder. This cheap and cheerful place is definitely on my city quick lunch list!
