We decided to give Chik & Kent a go for dinner one night as I often walk by. The waiter greeted us warmly. While there were a few people there, they were all having drinks. To start, we ordered: Crispy cauliflower — not a fan. Just not what I expected battered chunks of cauliflower. But this is me. Other would love this dish. Lamb chops — delicious. A must get. Scallops — nice but didn’t fit the Indian flavors When trying to decide on main, we couldn’t get the rabbit masala(would have been nice to know when we got the menu) so we started to struggle with what to have because really wanted something masala flavored. The waiter sensed this and offered a masala omelette. Not on the dinner menu(it’s for breakfast) but we decided to get it with Dahl and roti. This was OMG delicious. A great combination to finish dinner on. So having had this experience, we went back to have breakfast on the weekend. Masala omelette all round. It did not disappoint. This time it also had a spicy chutney that really added some heat to the meal. Coffee was drinkable but a bit cold. Overall there were good and bad points, but the food was so nice that I will be back.

Loved this place — fantastic food, great drink list, good service, nice atmosphere. The food is not your typical take away curries. It’s a bit of a modern twist with a few classics thrown in for good measure. Everything was delicious! It’s a bit pricey but I suppose the location has a lot to do with that. Overall a great place for food and drinks.

Totally agree with my fellow Unilocalers, woke up to the hunger demon inside of me demanding food & coffee and going off the reviews i headed here. Fantastic eggs Benedict, very generous serving and friendly service with great coffee. Will be back in for lunch and dinner going by the menu, my kind of place.

Sensational coffee. Each time. Barista is a great guy. Will explain the blend. Also serve single origin. I had Lucio Delgado from Colombia. Loved it Attention to detail in making coffee. You can watch the barista make your coffee. Highly recommended. Sit at the counter and enjoy the world go by.

Been here regularly for coffee, their single origin brew is great. Decided to try the lunch specials, they are reasonably priced and big serves. Very yummy indian inspired but light café style lunch. Pretty quiet and lovely to relax on the couches with a wine.

We dined at Chick and Kent twice last week. We had a fantastic midweek quick lunch as recommend by one of my fiancée’s colleagues. I was struck by what a friendly, professional and hospitable place this was! Indian food is my favourite cuisine and I was hungry so I was looking forward to something lovely and tasty to eat. The restaurant is large airy and contemporary in style and also easy to find in the heart of Perth. We were seated by a lovely gregarious waiter who made us laugh and made sure we were well looked after and answered all our questions enthusiastically. We chose two veggie items off the Quick Bites menu and a Dosa at the waiters recommendation which was something that we had not tried before. The food arrived quickly, looked great and also tasted fresh and delicious. Our glasses of water were topped up regularly by another member of staff who then asked if we would like coffees and took our bill. Again another fantastic member of staff, warm, hospitable, with dignity and professionalism. This is what makes dining out enjoyable. Staff that take pride in their role. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left. We could not fault our experience here at lunchtime and it was exactly what makes restaurants enjoyable to go to, good food, good service, and surroundings. However we came back later in the week for an evening meal and found the Rabbit quite interesting but the 24 hour Daal and Aloo Channa, were very boring and bland and these two dishes we felt were very over priced for what they were. We were served by yet another exemplary member of staff that evening which made up for the disappointing dishes. I would definitely give Chick and Kent another try and find other items from the menu next time!

We ended up here on a tip from another Unilocaler and what a great tip it was! We munched our way through most of the small plates menu and I have to say there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like. The real standout was the local scallops with flying fish roe — some of the best scallops I’ve had anywhere. We liked them so much we ordered another round. Portions are decent sized for small plates and prices quite good by Perth standards. I’d like to go back to try their Indian offerings but the small plates were so good I might just do that again! Drinks were well made and not overpriced. Service was absolutely excellent — our waitress was attentive, professional and friendly. Atmosphere was comfortable and it was nice to have our conversations without shouting. Absolutely somewhere we will go back to again soon!

I’m thinking this used to be the Cinnamon Club??? Let me say that if you don’t get in and try the Chicken or Lamb Tikka Naanwich(see what they did there?), you haven’t lived. Everyone who buys a cheeky indian meal sticks a bit of tikka in their naan and woofs it. This is constructed for you and is deeeeeelicious. Lunch washed down with a couple of Kingfishers and you’re sorted.

Their excellent instagram account boasting an array of beautifully captured pictures and showcasing the care that they take to make their coffee really compelled me towards Chik & Kent. I haven’t tried enough of their main staples to make a resounding comment food wise — but for what it’s worth, the little tapas that I had on my first visit wasn’t exactly impressive. It didn’t deter me from coming back though as I know that their main focus is the coffee and their Indian food. On both occasions, I’ve found the coffee to be flavoursome, well made and even served along with a shot of soda water. It’s that little extra palate cleanser that I always appreciate when I’m having a strong coffee. Chik and Kent is a really great place to have a business meeting too as it stays relatively quiet and composed throughout the day. Plus, the venue has got an incredibly interesting concept — next time around, I’ll definitely be staying for lunch.

A strange combination for sure — Part Indian restaurant and part café. They have a great brunch menu that runs till 3pm that includes classics like poached eggs, but some Indian dishes too, like dosas. The lunch and dinner menu is all Indian, and all very reasonably priced. At the front of the restaurant is a coffee section, where a barista pumps out coffees for the restaurant and passersby.

came here for lunch and we ordered butter chicken, spicy lamb kofta and pork goan. taste wise it was alright, nothing wow. however I had a nice glass of cava. they really need to improve on service. apart from having to wait around 10 mins for menu and water, the wait staff is not very attentive and the place is far from busy! its a nice place to hang out for coffees and drinks I think, so might do that with a bigger group of people in the future.

Interesting name for an interesting place. I wouldn’t think that Indian and wine go great together, but newly opened Chik & Kent at the west end of Murray Street proves me wrong. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, manager Chris Littler, formerly of Cheeky Sparrow knows a thing or two about what Perth coffee drinkers want. Gone with the usual drink offerings of lattes, cappuccinos and chai’s, C&K are back to basics, providing a simplified menu of black, white or filter coffee. They have an extensive wine list of champagne, red, white, cocktails and beer as well as proudly offering BYO, except for Mondays where the $ 20 corkage is donated to an Indian charity monthly. The menu has everyone’s favourites like butter chicken, Rogan josh, vindaloo as well as goan pork curry, vegetarian options and other highly flavoured and spiced meals. No doubt, all the discerning coffee snobs are racing to try out this new place, so get in quick for a sip or two, leisurely lunch or dinner.

Can’t complain with good coffee and friendly baristas! Sitting in the front window of what is now the Cinnamon Club Perth(formerly a kitchenware store?) is Chik & Kent. When I end up having to go into town for meetings I always try and swing pass this guys to grab a coffee before hand. They get in a variety of roasters and know what they’re doing with their machine and pour overs. Definitely worth checking out if your in town.
