Located on the rooftop terrace of Print Hall(formerly Newspaper House in Brookfield Place), Bob’s Bar pays homage to ‘Hillbilly Bob’ Hawke, Australia’s third-longest serving Prime Minister. Upon entry, it’s immediately evident that the bar pays homage to Prime Minister Hawke’s famous larrikin personality, with infamous quotes littering everything from the printed menus to glowing neon signs. We visited Bob’s on a bustling Saturday night, ascending Print Hall’s newspaper-print clad stairs(declaring Australia’s victory in the 1983 America’s Cup) to a pumping DJ set. Being a balmy Summer night, the rooftop bar was crowded with jovial patrons, however we easily made our way to the service window. Upon scanning the menu(which proudly sports a ‘You silly old bugger!’ quote from Bob) it was immediately apparent that ‘Bob loves beer’. A wide selection of premium craft beers(with emphasis on local Western Australian beers and American brews) sat comfortably against a neat choice of cocktails, wines, jugs(punch, sangria, Pimms) and spirits. Despite a frenetic pace within the service area, we quickly gained the attention of a pastel-haired staffer who filled our order for tap beers and sangria. With glasses in hand, we migrated to a bustling undercroft where(miraculously) some stools became available. As per usual, Colonial Small Ale(3.5% session ale, bargain $ 10 pints) was a top-notch beer for sipping on a warm Summer night. The sangria($ 10 glass) was deep crimson and brimming with fresh lime, citrus and berries. We scanned the Deep South(Creole) inspired small bites menu, with dishes like cornbread with whipped maple butter(omg, $ 5), buttered sweet corn($ 8) and fried chicken with ranch($ 12) but were defeated by prior overstuffed burritos. Cornbread, I’ll be back for you later. The entire bar space at Bob’s has an incredible view over the Perth CBD, with luminescent original signage from ‘The West Australian’ newspaper offering a constant reminder of the venue’s heritage. Bob’s offers Happy Hour prices from Monday to Thursday(4−5pm) with $ 4 middy’s and $ 8 pints/house wine(a refreshing bargain for the Perth CBD). Most definitely recommended.

Fun, casual rooftop bar with great music and pitchers of Pimms! What else would you need on a summer evening?

Stopped in mid week for a quick drink. We’d usually stay at Print Hall but this time decided to head to the roof as it was a nice warm night. Such an amazing spot to catch up with friends and enjoy a cold bevvie on a warm night.

Bob’s is probably my favourite pub at the moment. Situated on the third(and top) floor at Print Hall, Bob’s has a great view over the city and is conveniently located above the other great eateries downstairs. They have a solid selection of rotating tap beers, with a few permanents, and a big menu of cocktails. I have only eaten once and it’s all Mexican small bites which is good for lining the stomach but I would head downstairs if I wanted something substantial.

On the rooftop of print hall — this place was heaving on a Friday night. Great atmosphere and quick service — loving their Mexican small bites too! Fun time in a really cool rooftop venue.

Love this bar! Such a great addition to Perth. There isn’t much of a view but it has a really nice feel. Attracts an older crowd and is great for after work drinks on a Friday. The watermelon wine carafes are way too easy to drink. Service is pretty friendly and the food I’ve tried is good too.

Is this the best rooftop bar in Perth? Yes it is. The food is amazing. Fresh and delicious. Lunch or dinner. We had dinner with beers. Amazing. A very cool and happening place. Their cocktail collection is also excellent. Even if you don’t drink alcohol guy can get a mock tail.

Yes. $ 10 tequila and freshly squeezed(as in before your eyes) apple juice! That’s the first thing. Secondly, I’ve never understood why Perth doesn’t have more outdoor bars — it’s sunny all year! This one is fantastic. Well set. Not to mention a few sneaky nods to, arguably, Australia’s most colorful PM, Bob Hawke. Thirdly, down stairs for a 5 star dinner at Print Hall(a nod to Keatings appreciation for the finer things?!) or to Apple Daily for delicious, fresh Asian flavors(a nod to Whitlam for popping across the seas to China?!)

A lively bar on St Georges Terrace where casual dress is accepted and the security people are polite. The bar displays some history with the old Neon West Australian sign and the press article in the stairwell. It is located in the Brookfield Place Precinct above Print Hall. The bar is open on a Sunday which is great, a place to bring Mum and Dad. They serve great drinks and give you a nice portion of Champagne.

Bob Hawke in Fact! A rooftop terrace named after Australia’s third-longest serving Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. This bar sits at the top level of the Print Hall building above the Apple Daily Bar and Eating House, off St Georges Terrace. The drink selection is decent and the atmosphere is pretty cool and trendy. This place is a refreshing and welcome addition to the bar scene in Perth and adds a more classy alternative to another particular rooftop bar that offers stunning views … of Target. The service here is pretty decent and the drinks were all reasonably priced and quite tasty. I will be back in future for certain. Definitely a cool place to check out if you haven’t already.

It was dead and lifeless on the sunday we went. The service staff didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing or communicate with a customer. The food menu was ordinary and we chose to move on to get a decent bite from else where. It definitely doesn’t compare to the Print Hall and Apple Daily below it. I was very disappointed with our service.

On the rooftop of the Print Hall sits Bob’s Bar. Named after Prime Minister Bob Hawke, the charismatic bartender explained to us that, «after Australia II won the America’s Cup in 1983 Bob Hawke called for a public holiday to mark the occasion. Bob’s Bar tries to capture that public holiday feeling.» That’s why the walls of the staircase are only lined with newspapers from the time around America’s Cup in 1983. There’s a tapas menu and some gourmet wiener hotdogs available. We had the patatas bravas and prawns. The wait on the food was pretty extensive considering there were only a few other people in at the bar. The food itself was ok, though paying $ 4.50 per prawn seemed a bit steep. Apparently the place gets packed out on a Friday night, as you would expect from any CBD drinking hole, and Saturday nights are picking up too. I’d recommend trying it out on a weekday lunch time, for a super chilled vibe and enjoy the peacefulness and uninterrupted stunning views of the Bankwest Building and blue sky. It’ll leave you thinking ‘damn it feel’s good to live in Perth’.
