On a cool, very wet day in summer, this is the place to go. I am sure that on a sunny summers day it’s amazing. However I chose my day badly, got soaked waiting for the ferry over to Patonga, and spent the whole time in the hotel attempting to dry off. The bar in the hotel has won country pub of the year, and the service was good. Just what I’d expect from a pub. The decoration was very bare, more bar-like than pub-esque but then again, you don’t get the English style pub in Australia. I was disappointed that the bucket of prawns wasn’t very big, we were sharing between 5 people and had to fight for a second one, otherwise the food was fine, standard pub fare.

Best lunch venue on the Central Coast. Locally sourced seafood, great chefs, great menu and top location. Beer garden is relaxed, shady and comfortable for a long lunch. Reasonably priced and staff are tops.

Look Don’t Eat! Million dollar views, arguably the best North of the harbour, meet often inedible and always overpriced food. Been here several times and always wowed by the vista and underwhelmed by my meal. A new low today — the $ 22 «Patonga Burger». Comes with a 1″ thick patty, I suppose that large to justify the price. It was as dry as the sand across the road. Interestingly fully cooked yet luke warm throughout. The laws of thermodynamics suggest a pre-cooked patty. Pre-cooked for $ 22? Combine that with my $ 10 schooner and the view suddenly didn’t look so good. To the proprietors: 10 out of 10 for maintaining the beautiful building and not turning it into anonther«RSL by the sea». And 2 out of 10 for the gouging you give your customers with your abysmal food.

Ate dinner here recently, Patonga is a beautiful place and it’s a nice pub in a great location, however had fish of the day which was just average fish, chips and salad costing $ 26 and $ 10 for a schooner of Peroni is too high in spite of location. My grandson had child’s serve fish and chips and it seemed to be the same fish and same size. I live nearby but won’t be going back.

We were out on a boat for the day and decided to stop here for lunch. It’s located on the waterfront and overlooks Patonga beach. There is a large amount of outdoor seating and some seating inside. The whole place is self service and there is a full bar with a nice selection of draught beer and wine by the glass. There is a separate food counter and we ordered lunch here. They told us it would be an hours wait for the food, totally ridiculous. If you are busy then I would hire more help and, not have such an extensive lunch menu to choose from. The food was nothing special and the flavours were ok. I did wonder how they won country pub of the year before? It’s not cheap and having long waits for food makes it less appealing. I may come back here again to try something different or when it’s less busy.

The best thing here is the view. And the trees in the beer garden and the eagles that nest in them. On the other hand, the food is expensive and mediocre and the beers are all served in the same size(smallish) glasses. Should be so much better given the location.

Great pub, great view, great food. I don’t drink beer but I know they have a whole bunch of nice beer on tap. Great to visit if you are coming up to the coast for a holiday. They also provide a courtesy bus for $ 10 including a free beer. Nice work Patonga Hotel!
