A fantastic day learning about baseball, watching the Adelaide Bite win their game. A hot dog and beer topped off the event, and I bought an ice-cream in a New York Yankies cup.

The giant thunderstorm threatened us for a bit but luckily the skies cleared in time for us to enjoy another great Elite event organised by our wonderful CM Anita! I live so close to Norwood oval but hadn’t ventured out to see a baseball game so I’m glad this event gave me some motivation to get out there. It was really interesting to hear from Steve Mintz, the Adelaide Bite Field Manager. I didn’t realise that baseball was as big as it is in SA, with players being drafted from all over the US to play for the Adelaide team. We had special reserved seats in a great vantage point(albeit some of the seats were missing some slats and I went home with some interesting patterns in interesting areas!) and after hearing Steve’s talk we all headed off to get a hotdog and a beer — classic baseball food! It was great to have a chilled event where we got to mingle and catch up with other Elites and some Newbies too! I found myself getting really absorbed in the game and I got pretty excited when my favourite player smashed two massive home runs. A super bonus was seeing a bunch of great hits and foul balls that had us ducking out of the way! And Adelaide Bite massively smashed Canberra which always makes for a great atmosphere. It was cool to have some other entertainment and giveaways during the game, such as the mascot race and the dizzy bat race(that had two kids running circles around a bat and then trying to run in a straight line — always hilarious!). I really enjoyed this night and would definitely like to get back to a game sometime soon. GOBITE!

Rain, hail or shine, Unilocal always shines through! Despite flash floods and lightning storms, the sun was baring down in all its glory for a day at the ball park with Unilocal.Norwood Oval certainly looks different in the baseball diamond configuration and with hot dogs and pop corn for sale, you may be mistaken for being in the states, but with Coopers on tap and ABs for sale, you’re brought straight back to rAdelaide. Putting our feet up in the stands(excellent seats too) we had the Bite’s ever-determined Manager give us some pointers on the ABL and the Bite as well as how the semi-professional league worked. The game was quickly under way and I loved the chilled vibe at the ground. Baseball is called America’s past time for a reason, you can sit back and watch the game whilst chatting away, grabbing drinks and digging into fast food and have an all round fab time. I love baseball(I’m a Cleveland fan myself) so it was great explaining the finer points and seeing people get excited as the match went on. Adelaide demolished Canberra so cheers all round. Had a great time at my first elite event for maybe 2 years, so thanks for a such a wonderful night!

What a fun idea for an event! I have a growing love for baseball, and my BF loves it, so to be able to meet Steve Mintz, a pro-baseballer and the Adelaide Bite Field Manager, was pretty dang cool. Seeing Adelaide SMASH Canberra was also quite fun. Thanks for making that happen guys! The event was pretty low key, which I always enjoy. It was super easy to spot our fabulous CM at the gates, and getting in and around the stadium was a breeze. Whilst there was a little confusion about whether we were in the Shark Tank or not, our spot ended up being fine, even with a few broken chairs the awesome Elites cuddled up and made it work. I would definitely be keen for a similar sporty event again soon… Beer, hotdogs and blue skies make for a pretty great evening.

Considering I played softball at school, and was born in Canada(Blue Jays are the best team in the world), I’m ashamed to say I’d never been to a live baseball game before this event. It was a lot of fun watching Adelaide take on Canberra last night. The stadium is nice, although the screen and scoreboard were hard to see until the sun went down. They had plenty of entertainment in between innings and it made for a good night. Canberra were one spot higher than us on the ladder and it really was a great game. We saw plenty of home runs, some spectacular foul balls and even a couple double plays. Baseball is a fantastic sport to watch, I’ll definitely be bringing my family next time.

I’ve never been to a baseball game until now and it was an enjoyable experience to watch Adelaide Bite take on Canberra Cavalry. Very handy having Unilocaler Donna explain the rules! Our group was taken to an undercover area and we were introduced to professional baseballer Steve Mintz who has been in Australia for a few months and goes back to his real job in the states in February. His role here is Adelaide Bite Field Manager. Lots of music leading up to the start of the game, then standing for our National Anthem sung by a lady with a beautiful voice. A bit of entertainment midway with a mascot running competition, and soft plastic baseballs thrown to the crowd one landing in Unilocaler Donna’s lap. This event was kindly sponsored by The Australian Baseball League, and we received tokens for a hotdog and drink. The dog was served on a long roll and it was help yourself to sauces and mustards. I upgraded my drink to a Johnnie Walker & cola can for $ 2, otherwise a beer($ 7) with the token. Baseball is a very family friendly event, and I’ll be returning with friends for a finals game. Steve Mintz would have been very happy tonight as his team had a solid win. Go Adelaide Bite!
