Fantastic spot, if a little hidden. Great service and place to sit and watch the world go by.

Named for the valley its big window looks out towards, Providence is the Hobart café scene’s newest and shiniest club member. A block back from Elizabeth St’s busy dining precinct, you’ll find delicious coffee served by co-owner Marco, a friendly guy who’ll happily chat to anyone who comes through the door. Providence feels cool and light, thanks to whitewashed walls, high ceilings, and beautiful wooden finishes. The wooden stools and benches were put together by Providence’s own handyman(and staff member) Conrad, who was on the ball and remembered my Brisbane origins on my second visit. There’s nothing like feeling like a regular at a lovely little café like this. I love sitting at the bench in the window and looking up at the mountain while taking a little bit of me time.
