Great place for their spicy pide. Definitely a once a month place to help you keep your taste buds alive. Quiet unassuming place. The food is made with care and love. You can taste it and the tradition. Loads of taste but you might feel it is a bit heavy. The Turkish coffee to end it makes it feel really soothing. Would recommend for those who want to try something different on a day to yourself. Enjoy.

Ordered delivery 11pm. Food hasn’t come 1h 40m later, so I call and ask. I hear in the background they haven’t started/can’t find it and he says it’ll be another 20 minutes. Two hours for a falafel I could’ve walked for, but paid for bad service. What a joke, I got offered«some sweets» to compensate in an uninterested tone.

Had a spinach pida and got a small dip. Pida was perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty. Far better than pizza. The dip is a little pricy on its own but I thoroughly enjoyed dunking my pida in it. Pida size is probably big enough for 2 people imo. I’ll be back for sure

Late night drunk special. I have a thing about Saray that means I cant go in there personally. I dont know what it is, other than say… its being there at 2am or something that makes me want to just punch on with anyone, when I go inside. Maybe Im an actual Vamper maybe Psychosomatic. maybe it’s my jinx spot. I did very nearly get arrested here one night in 2008 for causing a ruckus, but that’s another story. I CAN send other people in there to get me a late night lamb sammich because there just isn’t anywhere in Newtown that does as good a Kebab as Saray. The guys here have been doing this for a long time. They know what they’re doing and they do it so well. There are all manner of snack things too like Zucchini fritters and Pide but I always go the Chicken Kebab with the lot. Open heaps late, so if youre a drunk Newtown frequenter like me, you can soak up some of that next day hangover before you hit the sack. PS: I noticed the business hours say open until midnight, but I know Ive been here much, much later than that.

Used to come here every week several years ago. It’s been my first visit since then and the food is still great. Now a vegan I got a pide without cheese for the first time. It wasn’t quite as flavorful as I remember it and with $ 15.50 quite expensive. But the vegetarian roll for $ 7 was amazing, filling and cheap!

Yummy pides for eat-in or takeaway, made fresh. Don’t be fooled, these are quite filling. On my latest trip, we ordered: — small serving Turkish bread + dips — 2 pides — mixed kebab platter This was plenty for a group of 5 people! All good. I found the Turkish bread + dips and pides outstanding. The Turkish bread + dips were a good appetizer, they arrived really quickly. We ordered an extra serving of bread because there were so many dips. They have vegetarian pides, so the non-meat eaters can rejoice!

I admit … I was buzzed and blissful when I flew into this late night pide haven, located just minutes from my house … If you’re anywhere on King or Enmore Street during the day or late at night, then make this YOUR pide or wrap destination. It’s also BYO, which makes Saray an exceptional pre-party or end-of-the-party place. We ordered a vegetarian pide(around $ 13) and a vegetarian wrap($ 7), which were both phenomenal. The wrap came within five minutes, and was packed with hummus, tabouli, and heaps of grilled vegetables like eggplant, etc. It was a really good value for the price, and definitely didn’t have the«late night» feel or taste of food thats been sitting out. It was fresh, crisp, and left me wanting more … But then the pide came! I haven’t had pide in about a year, so I was well over due, and this was the perfect fix for a Turkish pizza craving. The vegetarian pide was covered with great grilled vegetables and the cheesy explosion that was the first bite brought me back to the days when pide was an everyday occurrence … The staff is really kind and generous, and if you give them a «merhaba,» they’ll be sure to give you the«local treatment.» Buzzed and flighty or level-headed and wandering, I’ll be back to Saray probably too many times for my own good!

Great late night, or any time of day pide spot. Consistently great pide. Efficient service and good prices.

Just a note to say that the back restaurant part is now with table service, with a waitress dedicated to serving the tables, complete with menus and at table ordering. You can’t just take your takeaway back there anymore, apparently there is a different menu — saw some people get asked to leave with their pide box. BYO still in force and quality is still first rate so I suppose they are just formalising their amazing establishment.
