Lovely café. Well worth the visit! Super friendly and cheerful staff, quick service, lunchtime wine specials and beautiful salads. I couldn’t decide between the halloumi and the lamb salad, so they offered to combine. The risotto and pastas are also to die for. Perfect for the weekend Newtown shopping pit stop!

Cutesy little coffee store with good service that’s not pretending to be something else.

You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to cafes along King Street, but it’s well worth wandering past Newtown Station and hunting down Lou Jacks. Brilliant coffee and brunches are their weekend trade, but there’s also a fine mix of Modern Australian and European fare to tempt you for lunches. This is a café that draws the locals — and that should speak for itself. The staff are always lovely and there’s a great courtyard where you can linger over your coffee and eggs. Try the big breakfast with haloumi, then go back and try the corn fritters — yum yum!
