History
Established in 2003.
Jivamukti Yoga Sydney welcomes people of all ages and abilities, including brand new beginners. The diverse schedule includes classes such as: beginners, Jivamukti basics, Jivamukti yoga open and 1 hour classes, Spiritual Warrior, restorative, kundalini, prenatal and mums and bubs yoga. Since its inception, Jivamukti Yoga Sydney has been famous for its community yoga classes — weekday classes at 8 am and 12 noon that cost only $ 8. We also offer in class privates as well as private classes, which are a great way to deepen your practice.
‘I love Jivamukti’s focus on community, the environment, animal rights and family. I love sitting in the café eating my organic, locally sourced vegan lunch while sharing a table with a group of mums and bubs who have just finished class and are now having a coffee and catch up. I love the artistic, creative, alternative people who come here and work hard to become kinder more compassionate people.’ Jivamukti Yoga Sydney student
Meet the Business Owner
Katie M.
Business Owner
Katie Manitsas is the director of Jivamukti Yoga Sydney (formerly Samadhi Yoga). Katie was the first certified Advanced Jivamukti Yoga teacher in Australia and has also studied extensively with the Wise Earth School of Ayurveda under the guidance of Mother Maya, as well as being a qualified Kundalini Yoga teacher. She completed training as a doula (birthing companion) in 2009. Katie grew up in the English countryside surrounded by nature and animals and at the age of ten became a vegetarian; today she is a vegan and proud shareholder of Sadhana Kitchen, the vegan café located at Jivamukti Yoga Sydney. Katie’s first yoga teacher, who has now left his body, was an elderly gentleman from the Bahamas who taught classes in the local community centre of the village where she lived. She started attending those classes at twelve years of age and has been doing the best she can to practice yoga ever since. Simon Low from Triyoga was the teacher who encouraged Katie to begin teaching.
