Just not worth it. For such a great little location I honestly expected more, I only ordered a take away chai but even after asking for extra flavoring it still tasted like plain like warm milk. If you can’t make a chai then you can’t make a coffee. And this point was proven after walking out with my chai to see two other girls tasting there take away coffees and throwing them immediately into the bin after tasting them. I’m not sure how they are surviving in Brisbane with such poor quality coffee. The service at the register was okay, but it become apparent that the two girls who seemed like there were just load obnoxious customers were actually friends with staff which meant they would be there continually and making it unpleasant environment. Walk up the road instead, you’ll find better coffee, chai’s and atmosphere.

If you’re after quick, inexpensive fuss-free brunch on James Street, The Little Pantry is for you. With a rotating specials menu, and an all day breakfast, The Little Pantry serves up yummy food without the unnecessary frills and unnecessary price tag of some of its James Street neighbours. It took around 10minutes for our meals to arrive on a mediumly-busy morning — and the staff commented that was slow. There’s seating inside(hipster theme with books and board games to try) or outside curbside. The best part, however, is that The Little Pantry is dog friendly! Each table has a bowl of water for your furry friend and there’s no side-eyeing if you sneak them the crusts off your avocado on toast. Tables are close together and pups tend to wander to other tables for a look — so if you’re going to sit outside, be prepared to get a wet nose in your lap enquiring about your lunch! Staff are friendly, and relaxed; food is casual but good; puppies are welcome

Friend and I decided on Pantry Eggs which at $ 20 seemed like good value compared to the big breaky at $ 24.It wasn’t busy(which should have been a warning on a beautiful Saturday morning) yet the food arrived before our coffees. We then had to ask for glasses to enjoy the bottle of water that had been placed on the table. The food was very nice but ridiculously small serves — 2 small pieces of bacon and a slice of haloumi — did not justify the price. The coffee was lukewarm and bland. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant and good-natured. Give this one a miss, even if it means waiting for a table to become available at another café.

What more can you ask for on a hot day. Crazy me decided to bike ride over for an iced coffee — delicious. Service was friendly and fast. And I had an entire room to myself to vege and catchup on my writing. Peace and sugar. Thumbs up from me and I’ll be back to sample the breaky menu.

Much like China, this place used to be cool. My first visit here, was nothing spectacular, but enough to warrant a second visit. Alas, I should have left it at one. My experience today was appalling. The food took over an hour to arrive and when it did the ‘big’ breakfast was tragic. Undercooked sausage, a small erve of bacon, warm bread as toast, no spinach, raw mushrooms, hard cherry tomatoes(roast tomatoes) soggy ‘rosti’. At $ 20 it is a bit of a con job too. On top of that the coffee was burnt and the service was inattentive and rude. Is it too much to apologise about the wait after an hour? I will not be going back, which is a damn shame as it is literally 50m from my door. Hopefully they can go broke sooner rather than later so someone who gets the food business can take over the space.

This end of James St can be a bit hit and miss as far as eateries go. A lot of places seem to ride on the coat tails of the James St Markets and feel they can get away with substandard and pricey fare. It’s good to see that Little Pantry seems to want to break the mold. It’s still in it’s first few months of life, but it already is very popular — too popular when I went. I had to wait quite a while for a seat, however I was glad I perservered as my party enjoyed both our food and our drinks — and the bill! I do have to agree with everybody else, I don’t know if I’d wait as long next time so the seating situation does need to be addressed. It seems possible to fit more in, so I hope they figure it out before I head there next.

It’s nice to see an affordable breakfast/lunch hotspot take up residence on traditionally pricey James Street. The Little Pantry has all the makings of a new local favourite, with a central location, appealing menu, and quaintly decorated interior. My quark toast with cherry tomatoes was fresh and tasty, and kind on the wallet at $ 10. The shelves inside are stuffed full of books, making this a nice destination for a bit of ‘me’ time. I went at a quiet time, but I imagine this little spot gets pretty busy at peak times. There’s not a whole lot of seating so get in early to secure your place!

Little Pantry has snuck up as a cute little café on a quieter corner of James Street. It’s a brand newy — only open for seven weeks — but I can already tell it’s going to be a raging success. Only however, if they sort out that seating situation. Seriously, they do not have enough room or smart seat positioning to cater for the influx of people that will be completely inevitable. On a Saturday morning, it’s already packed by 9:30 and you have to skilfully swoop in to nab the first seat that becomes available. I had my eye on the regal couch but sadly, that was already taken. So my party and I managed to grab a seat outside, which was lovely and still in the thick of it. I do admire the casual, we’re-cool-but-nonchalant-about-it milk crate seating, but my sensitive derrière was a little worse for wear after about half an hour in one spot. My meal, I can say with total honesty and confidence, was spectacular. The avocado was so fresh and the bread infused with just the right amount of oils to make it outstanding and just what my morning-sensitive palate desired. It was actually magical. The bacon I hear(from a third party source) was average, but the coffee was also very nice. No artificial sugar here guys, it’s all natural, as are the menu options. Gluten-intolerants can rejoice because Little Pantry has a stack of meal choices for you, and even choices to cater for lactose-intolerants too. Hooray! The only negative I have about it is the seating. The rest of the shop is designed so well with lovely flooring, perfectly positioned windows, and some great table features, but the seating leaves much to be desired. Like I said, you literally almost have to fight people off and give them the stinkeye just to have a chance of procuring a table. But I love the way they casually have bookshelves hanging on the walls and use chess pieces as table numbers. Anything slightly obscure always wins extra brownie points for me. If they sort out that seating problem pronto, I think Little Pantry is going to get some real hype. Check it out!

Brand spanking new, and perched on James Street between New Farm & the Valley is The Little Pantry. This cute little café has only been open a few weeks and appears to already have a group of loyal customers who come in to sit in the window sill to watch the world go by, or on the beautiful antique lounge inside. It boasts organic coffee and food and a friendly atmosphere. I went in the first week of being open and was a bit disappointed that there was no breakfast menu up and running, however they were serving delicious bites such as quinoa salads and sourdough sandwiches in the fridge at the front. The coffee I had was a little burnt, but this could be just another teething issue during their first week. The Little Pantry is the bare bones of what could be a really great little café. If you go along, try and snag a seat in the window to people watch. It’s been designed really well and has a homely feels but lacks a lot of ambience, but this is something that may come with time. If you’re a café hopper like me, it’s definitely worth a visit.
