Just great. Got a mushroom dish … I could have eatten another plate. So nice to go to a place that knows how to poach a egg. Chia latte was good too great quality soy. Wish this place was closer to my house would eat here every morning.

Love love love this place, it’s so perfect on a rainy weekend morning to just chill and take your time to ease into the day. Scrambled eggs are on point every time, sourdough is extra crispy and they don’t charge extra for relish which I love. Their cold drip coffee is friggin fantastic and without fail every time I go to pay I stand there battling with myself deciding weather to buy one of their incredible looking counter treats. One downside is they don’t split bills, but it’s pretty cheap there anyway so not a huge deal.

«Sunday Brunch is probably considered my happy place» — Unknown quote Oh I am true fan of this little eatery. This is my favourite brunch pad at the moment. A small but very friendly and tasty Brisbane pad. Tucked way on Arthur Street you may miss it but take a wonder down Arthur with your back to Sixes and Sevens and you’ll see it on your left opposite Farrier wine bar. This place is not large but offers an amazing tasty breakfast. I can highly recommend the Lamb Kofta’s and Mushrooms and Eggs dishes. There is one large kitchen table upstairs that can take groups up to 8 with most of the seating for 2s and few tables downstairs for 4s. Definitely a must try if you are in the James Street area.

I actually thought this place was new and then to my utter shock I discover it’s been here for a little while now. Have I been living under a rock?! On a rainy morning we came here for breakfast and coffee and almost missed it. From the front it looks like a hole in the wall but once inside it stretches a fair way back and up. Head upstairs to the airy loft like dining section and grab a seat. The communal table by the windows is a great place to sit as its a bit away from the other tables and has great light for the insta set who want to photograph their breakfast. The one thing I will say for King Arthur, with its concrete walls and vaulted ceilings and wooden floors, the acoustics are insane. This also means that with the music(amazing soundtrack by the way) and the chatter of your fellow breakfasters it can get incredibly loud. Service is super prompt and meals are up in minutes! The menu is extensive! I chose the local mushrooms with corn and cheddar croquettes. My friend got the soft boiled eggs(a classed up version of the dippy egg soldiers you ate when you were a kid) and we had them within 15 minutes of ordering. The dishes aren’t huge but they are definitely filling. They average around $ 17 per dish so it’s not too tough on the old wallet. For you Java junkies out there you’ll be happy to know that the coffee here isn’t half bad at all. In fact, I drank two. Take a shot at King Arthur, go for a stroll up James St when you’re done and have yourself a lovely morning out in our valley.

King Arthur is awesome. It’s really tucked away and there is no signage so it feels like you’re discovering a great little secret. I visited for a weekday breakfast. The café is two levels. Upstairs has a kids area with some toys if you have little ones to bring along — if you don’t, don’t stress, it wasn’t overly loud. Lovely staff. Quick and efficient service. Great coffee. I had the chorizo and egg burger. So so good! Despite being a burger it felt fresh and light(I think the fresh, local produce helps with this.) I do have to say it was veryyyyy messy and I had sauce dripping down my arm, but totally worth it. Their menu changes as seasons and local produce changes, so I’m excited to go back and see what else is on offer!

This cool little bi-story café is currently my go-to for a weekend breakfast with a difference. For too long the breakfast scene in Brisbane has been awash with traditional Eggs Benny or traditions pancake options. King Arthur shakes the traditional breakfast notion on its head by using a fusion international breakfast influences with the Aussie faves. They also use fresh seasonal & local produce so you’ll always be tasting what’s best for you to eat in Australia at the time. Each time I’ve dined at the dainty café, I’ve elected to chose the daily special as it just seems so delectable! I also love that I’m able to match it with a well brewed coconut milk based latte too. Do yourself a favour and pop in for breakie or at least grab something delicious from the daily baked goods that grab your attention upon entry.

Completely crushing on this place at the moment. Great coffee and food that’s all sourced locally. King Arthur Café is a great café tucked away just back from the bustle of James Street Precinct on Arthur St(haha I see what they did there ;-) Staff are always friendly and menu gets refreshed seasonally so even if you’re here all the time you still get pleasantly surprised by new menu items. Gorgeous salads and sandwiches are freshly made daily ans will tempt you from behind the glass. The smell of Coffee Supreme beans wafts out to you onto the street and suddenly you’re upstairs looking down upon the world as if from atop a castle. Come eat and drink and be merry! King Arthur is where to come for breakfast, lunch, brunch, blunch(yes it’s a word — cause I said so) or just coffee.

This is surely Camelot. Local produce, a seasonal menu, Supreme Coffee and let’s not get started on the interior fit out. Suffice to say, if you’ve not yet ventured to this café on Arthur Street, I’d do so pronto. King Arthur is the new family member from the same folks that brought us Merriweather Café. Their ethos and value around high quality seasonal food remains and so do the friendly faces behind the counter. Similarly, just as the creation of the menu might has been considered and carefully constructed, the way in which the meals are crafted from the kitchen are given equal care and attention. I’ve been both for lunch and breakfast now and each time it has been a calming escape with a side of soul food. The gnocchi with lemon and tarragon in their opening days was, in true Goldilocks style, just enough. The serving size that good amount with gnocchi to savor but not be in a land of regret about the quantity you’ve devoured. And if you’re so inclined, treat yourself to a post-lunch treat from their range of baked goods. I’d recommend the raspberry frangipane tart if it’s available. Breakfast of lamb ragu on sourdough was hearty and a great winter alternative to porridge or eggs and bacon. Pro Tip: This isn’t a large café so there may be a little wait during peak times.

The first time I heard that there was a café called King Arthur I knew I had to get down and see it as soon as possible. My history nerd senses were tingling and so down to 164 Arthur Street, Fortitude Valley I went. Accompanied by two other lovely ladies we had brunch in this beautiful café, with its plane hanger curved roof and navy blue exterior its a perfect spot to grab a takeaway or enjoy a meal. I went for the good old avocado on toast, this time served with ricotta and pistachios with the other ladies opting for the slow-roasted lamb(usually goat) and charcoal pilchards. Coffee Supreme coffee fueled us up and pastries tempted us on the way out. A thoroughly beautiful place to sit and have a good coffee and some ace food. Definitely one to keep going back to as the seasonal produce ebbs and flows.

I’ve only been to Merriweather once, and King Arthur once. But both times the food and coffee have been pretty great. I had the quinoa & chai porridge which was pretty yum. My friends enjoyed the goat and avo on rye. The food came out in 10 minutes. The coffee was tasty. The ladies behind the counter were a bit lacklustre, but friendly enough. This is definitely going to be a ‘write your name on the list’ sort of place. There is a noticeable lack of good quality breakfast spots from Brunswick St until you get to Teneriffe. King Arthur Café fills the void nicely(and it’s 20 metres from my front door!)
