This place never disappoints! Great options and all well priced. Our go to is the calamari and chips or grilled fish. And great chicken salt for the kids!

Great fish and chips. Both take away and casual seating — with a nice outdoor area. I had grilled octopus skewers which were succulent and cooked perfectly, and grilled barramundi which was generous and juicy. Recommend!

I’m a huge fan of fish, but I hate cooking it. Well, not at the time, but the lingering odour the next morning turns my stomach. Which is just one reason I adore Olde Fashioned Fish & Chips. The other is I always giggle when I spy«Olde» — I know, I’m that lame. These guys know their seafood and are wonderfully proud of it. A litany of awards attests to their prowess, so feel free to ask for help when ordering. They’ll sort you out a treat! There’s an array of sauces, salads and even burgers if you fancy it. But what you really come for is the fish-and-chips. Both are cooked to perfection and you can ask for grilled instead of battered if you wish. And if you’re ordering during the nighttime rush, it’s well worth phoning ahead. That way you can whisk in and get your dinner home and on the table in no time.

This fairly normal looking fish n’ chips shop is actually the recipient of all sorts of awards for the quality of its fish n’ chips, including ‘Best in Sydney.’ Once inside, you’ll see the counter isn’t filled with your usual deep fried hunks of indistinguishable fish, instead there’s an array of colourful salads made up of prawns and other seafood. There are also trays of scallops, crab claws, calamari, oysters and all sorts of breeds of fish marinading in Olde Fashioned’s special sauces. These are available to be fried up whilst you order, though it’s advisable to order ahead, as we did, so that it was packaged and ready for us when we arrived 15 minutes later. The prices are mercifully decent and service very cheery, especially considering it was the Friday night boom. Our whiting was a cracking blend of crispiness on the outside and tender flesh on the inside, while the chips were chunky and crunchy, the best mixture for any easy as pie Friday night chippie!
