Fosyth Coffee and Tea, has been roasting, grinding selling coffee since 1981. We are not stuck in the old ways. We provide service with knowledge. The coffee range is always changing. We carry organic, rain forest friendly, direct trade coffee. Carry GF biscuit’s and cakes.

History

Established in 1981.

At our little coffee house on the corner, you can come and try our award winning coffees, teas and delicious home-​made cakes. We offer a large range of our own freshly roasted blends and single origin beans, which you can try in the style of your choice; we serve espresso, plunger, pour over filter, syphon and cold drip. Take home coffee beans — we will grind to suit your machine.

We have over 40 loose leaf teas to drink in or take home — black, green, herbal and fruit melanges, as well as coffee and tea paraphernalia — espressos, plungers, storage tins, jugs, filters etc. A beautiful selection of English bone china mugs, teapots and many other fabulous gift ideas — including our range of jams and chutneys, cheese biscuits and shortbread.

So, why not come in and explore — upstairs, you can sit and sip your coffee amongst our very own Naremburn coffee plantation or downstairs unwind in our sunny courtyard, both pet friendly of course. We have loads of indoor seating for rainy days

Finding, selecting and roasting excellent green coffees isn’t easy. Even tougher is the complex task of taking these coffees and creating a delicious blend. Gaining the experience and skill required to blend fine, single-​origin coffees into an orchestra of harmonious tastes comes only after hours and hours at the tasting table.

Rob Forsyth, has been roasting, creating and fine-​tuning coffee blends for over 35 years, has won many awards and has judged at National and International Barista Championships for the last ten years.

At Forsyth’s, we run coffee appreciation and barista accreditation courses; supply coffee carts for all occasions, as well as bringing you freshly roasted coffees and over 40 loose leaf teas.

One of these sole coffee places… and as I am a lover of coffee, I have no problem, no problem with this whatsoever. Saying that, they do have some small pastries and baked goods. But honestly, that is not the reason that you come here, you come here for the coffee.
Sadly, as coffee is their main deal, I expected amazing coffee — like coffee Alchemy or something of similar level. Even though the coffee here is good (hence the 4 stars) it was not as amazing (hence why not 5 stars). However, if you are a coffee lover it is still worth a try.
They have a few seats outside, but warning, this is place is quite busy and so might not get a seat. Also if you are hungry, maybe go somewhere else.

If you are looking for your standard coffee you will find it here & they are not just tossed off. Each cup is made on a personal them-​to-​you basis with care.
If you want to go deeper you can try a big range of varieties & you will receive a careful appraisal if you ask.

Fantastic coffee… One of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time! Nice place to sit and hang out and also a good shady spot for those who want to bring along their doggy friends. The service was friendly and I also learned that Forsyth’s has coffee appreciation classes too!

I stumbled upon this place entirely by chance, after getting on the wrong bus. As I wandered lost through ‘Naremburn’, a land that seemed so far far away, I caught sight of a very inviting little coffee shop, all covered on fairy lights and was immediately delighted.
I promised to return, and am glad I did. It’s such a cute little place for a cup of chai and a pastry. It is quiet, very quaint, serene, the perfect antidote to some of the cutlery clanging, filled to the brim cafés of Surry Hills.
I didn’t try the coffee, but it’s evident from the artillery that they take the art of coffee seriously here. Would definitely return, with a book, or a notepad in which to pen some sort of poetry. It’s just that kind of place.

I stopped by Forsyth today for an iced coffee to try to escape the extreme heat and get some relaxing reading and writing in. The baristas at the front were very friendly and the cold drip coffee was excellent. The décor is nice and quaint feeling, which I loved. But, I personally feel it’s a coffee shop cardinal sin to not have wifi and when I asked about it they said the connection is rarely up and was indeed down during my visit. As a result, I doubt I will be adding Forsyth to my short list of favorite coffee shops.

This super cute coffee house looks like it would be better placed in Paddington or one of the more trendy, village like suburbs. Still, it has managed to create a little village unto its own which locals flock to each and every day. The close quarters, stacked shelves and the tables and chairs placed under weeping tree branches make for a beautiful spot to grab an excellent cup of coffee. These guys are passionate about coffee– so much so that they select and roast their own blends. They boast that their blends will give much more ‘pleasure’ than a single origin blend. I am a coffee addict so I can vouch for that. These guys also offer barista training courses from apprentice to master so if you’ve ever wanted to take your skill to the next level this is the place to do it.

Very quaint, and evidently owned and run by people for whom coffee and tea rank well up the heirarchy of needs.
Downstairs is a cosy, dark-​wood toned retreat from the café’s busy corner. The smell of roasted beans and the barista’s evident focus on the job-​at-​hand suggest your brew is likely to be a good one. I know there are certain coffee servers in this town that believe there is only one way to serve coffee ‘properly’ — forget the soy milk or the Extra or the twist of lime — but at Forsyth they’re a little more open-​minded: good coffee comes the way YOU like it, so be specific.
So far I’ve only enjoyed my coffee on-​the-​run in Naremburn, but the place ranks at the top of my list next time I need to pick up paraphernalia to perfect my home version, or gifts for a tea-​loving friend.
Am also fascinated to read the other reviews about gardens and coffee plantations … will have to allow for exploring further next time I pass.

If you want a serious heart-​started, head to Forsyth’s. These guys are the business when it comes to everything and anything coffee related. And that definitely includes a brilliant and bold cup of coffee.
These blends are no shrinking violets, nor are the baristas. They’re happy and helpful, but incredibly diligent about crafting the perfect cappuccino. If you’d like to follow suit, Forsyth’s offers both barista and coffee appreciation courses. Just spend a few minutes gazing at all the shiny coffee paraphernalia and I’ll bet you’ll have barista stars in your eyes.
I’ve never made it past the ground floor for a quick (read: desperate) take away, but I hear these guys have a coffee garden, a den and an actual coffee plantation. Right there in Naremburn?! I’ll definitely have to go back and scope the place out properly. And that means I’ll probably wind up doing a course or two as well.

Oh I’ve been hoping to find a place like this… old, pokey, hidden rooms (not so hidden but most would not know they are there unless they went to the outdoor toilet). There’s always a line out the door in the mornings when I pass by. I could only imagine it was because the coffee was outstanding as the location in Naremburn is right on Willoughby road and near the highway overpass.
Despite my fluffy indecisiveness (there’s so much to soak up and look at) the staff were friendly and accommodating (I think they knew I was a Forsyth virgin).
So the coffee. I wish I could say I melted at my first sip. I didn’t though. It was a little bitter for my liking but not because of the way it was made I think it was just this particular blend. They use Vitasoy rather than the smoother Bonsoi too which cuts the flavour a bit. Saying all this, I still feel compelled to stop writing and buy another. Perhaps I should try another version — like their ‘slow coffee’, filter, plunger or syphon style.
Sweet treats to have with your cuppa — mini cup cakes, Addiction brownies, smartie face biscutes and giant florentines.
I loved the brown cups and sauces my mocha came in… nice shape to hold. If your after a quiet cuppa they have a sweet but modest outdoor area and an light indoor area downstairs (if it’s busy you can order down here to as there’s another coffee machine).
I also love that their coffee is sourced from organic, sustainable, direct trade and rainforest alliance plantations. They have the eco/​community mindset that’s for sure and set up events like the annual picking of the cherries day for the local kids at their retail shop.
I’d come here to buy a unique teapot or mugs, loose leaf tea or coffee. The café is 30 years old and it looks like they have 30 years of collectables — and dust on the display shelves I’m looking at. But it somehow adds to the charm of this place — as long as the coffee cups and eating areas are clean I’m happy. Custom is varied and I guess that’s mostly because it’s been here for so long — the word has spread.
