A local lunch bar run by a Vietnamese family, tucked away next to Subway and the hardware shop. Serving freshly made banh mi thit and ga($ 7) with homemade mayo(yum!). Nothing fancy just good tasty lunch time treats. The phở bo is really really good($ 11.50?). Fresh and fragrant. They have crumbed sausages, good old fashioned fry ups and other normal lunch bar foods(like chips) if you don’t fancy Vietnamese food. I once spotted Kelly from the last MKR in there so it must be good as she’s a foodie ;). I love the spearmint milkshakes and Vietnamese coffees are strong and sweet, just the way they are meant to be. Service is friendly and they don’t mind helping you if you have questions(I once asked the young guy what his favourite asian canned drink was and I got one and it was good). A great place for locals to drop by for a quick unpretentious lunch!

Came across this Lunch Bar & Café when I saw a sandwich sign board on Beaufort Street that has the word ‘Phở’. I decided to check it out and realised it is a lunch bar that also serves phở, banh mi thit(Vietnamese pork roll) and a variety of rice paper rolls. I have tried them all and it is fresh, tasty and delicious. I rate their Phở dish highly because of the use of fresh ingredients. The owner is a very friendly happy guy who would always offer us iced chinese tea together with our dine-in meals.

Oooh, a combo café! I love these ones! Sunshine Lunch Bar Café combines western style sandwiches, rolls and burgers with authentic Vietnamese cuisine. And they create both cuisines exceptionally well. I’m a sucker for a great sandwich and I sometimes feel compelled to change my name to Dagwood. At least my middle name. Maybe I could add an extra name! The name Dagwood originates from Blondie comics of by-gone eras where the character by that name was known for creating tremendously huge sandwiches for his eating pleasure. I’ve had many a late nite foray to the fridge and would one day like to create a masterful Dagwood sandwich to match the depths of my imagination. But, I think I’m more likely to create the object of my delectable desire if I come here than forage through my fridge. The bread is fresh, the fillings are extensive and the choice of condiments are perfection. When my Dagwood delight does materialise, I’ll post a pic of it for you.

It looks like an everyday lunch bar, except happier(never underestimate the power of visual cues) — and it is better than just that. In addition to made to order rolls, sandwiches and burgers; they also peddle great Vietnamese specialties too. The rice paper rolls, served with Sunshine’s own hoy-sin sauce are a winner and if you like your Phở; it’s here you’ll find some of the most authentic and flavorsome. The beef rice noodle soup($ 10.50-$ 12.50) at Sunshine, seriously gives some of the eateries in Northbridge a run for their money. This lunch bar is also stocked with a noteworthy selection of up-to-date Celeb trash mags. Gold.

Sunshine was introduced to me by a friend, as she used to frequent the store for her school lunches a few years ago. The friendly staff prepared me a custom made sandwich of chicken, fresh salad and a generous helping of cheese and mustard. The fresh ingredients made for a delicious home made sandwich, outshining the big name Subway, which is inconveniently situated next door to this tiny business. The gentlemen behind the counter was very enthusiastic and chirpy, so I returned to try some of his rice paper rolls he was so proud of. He did not disappoint, rice paper rolls are a favourite of mine and these were some of the best I’ve had. Soft, melt in your mouth rice paper, with deliciously marinated pork inside made for a delicious, cheap, guilt free snack on my way home. Great, friendly, local store. A real treat to see a small business diamond in the rough around here.
