Daughters Of Charity Op Shop

Closed now, but was the best op shop in town. Miss this shop and miss the staff.

I almost didn’t want to review this place for purely selfish reasons — because I don’t want anyone else to know about it! I haven’t been here once without leaving with at least one purchase.
I do a lot of op shopping and this one is definitely one of my favourites. It is filled with bits and pieces and is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The only downside is that it is only open for a few hours everyday so make sure you get up early on a Saturday to get down there.

Though it may look like a lot of junk in their windows, upon closer inspection there are some great finds amongst the bric-​à-​brac in this op shop. While I avoided the spooky collectable dolls on my way in, I was immediately drawn to the decorative object section (well, as categorised a section as you can get in an op shop) to discover a beautiful mini paperweight stamped with bird illustrations for just five bucks.
There’s plenty of vintage fashion here, too, and if the place wasn’t so dusty, I’d probably had taken my time sifting through it all.
A decent enough charity store, all the same :)

This is definitely one of the better op shops I’ve visited in Perth. It’s bigger than a lot of them, with one half of the shop reserved for clothes and the other half reserved for — well, everything under the sun, really. Because the clothes section is fairly big, there’s room for a lot of stuff, and as we all know, more stuff = higher likelihood that you’ll find something good. I found a really cute Topshop dress in here the other day, but alas, it wasn’t my size. The other half of the shop is equally good. There are mugs, plates, teapots and porcelain animals galore — if you like collecting random yet intriguing pieces of junk like me (teapot shaped like a pig? Yes please) then Daughters of Charity is a treasure trove. Tucked away right at the back is a further room, this one crammed with books, toys, CDs, vinyl and an extensive collection of videos (if anyone still has a video player). Even if you don’t find anything you want, there’s enough here for many hours of happy rummaging.
