Ben Tre

It good Vietnamese! I am a pretty harsh critic on this cuisine seeing as my mum’s is the best! (As any good daughter would stand attest to).
I have been here a number of times and service is fast! I would suggest trying the special Hu Tieu Ben Tre as they pack it with flavour, seafood and meat. Just the way it should be! I generally like to judge a Vietnamese spot based on their Phở. And I did return to try the phở, although was left feeling slightly underwhelmed. It lacked the depth of fragrant flavouring that I adore about a good authentic phở, but what I did love is that they weren’t shy on toppings such as beef slices, beef balls, beef on the bone and tripe.
Another occassion I was part of a large group. This was approximately 30 people taking up the back section upon two long tables. Oh! The décor and cleanliness of this place should be commended! The chairs all have engraved into them «NGON» which is basically delicious in Vietnamese. The furniture is modern and has a lot of friendly charm to it. Bathrooms are also very well kept ladies!
Anyway, this was my only bad experience with Ben Tre as our large group was being served food at very staggered times. Some people waited for 10 minutes for their dish, while some others waited nearly an hour. Not a fun spot to be in when everyone surrounding you is nearly finished their meal and you seem to be waiting forever for fried egg noodles and seafood.
I will admit staff are friendly and the space is well utilised, I hope it gets better!
