A friend of mine likes bikes. Actually like is a bit of an understatement, he loves them. He has a number of them and surprisingly was in the market for another one so I accompanied him to Velosophy at The Entertainment Quarter(the old Fox Studios) and there was my first introduction to the complex world of bikes! There’s so many to choose from, so many different varieties, so many accessories and the price of some bikes put my car to shame. I’ll admit there are some really nice ones here and boy, how things have changed since the good old days of my little BMX. I like it here and I’m seriously thinking of saving up to splurge on a bike but you won’t see me in a pair of those lycra shorts, that’s for sure.

I’m really not a bike person. Until I cycled around Central Park earlier this year, I hadn’t been on a bike in 20 years! I can’t believe I’m old enough to actually say I haven’t done something in 20 years — but that’s besides the point. I think Velosophy could change my mind about this whole two wheels business. The store is so shiny and well fitted out — the same goes for the website — they even organise group rides, so I’m sure they could re-teach me(it turns out that after 20 years, it really isn’t as easy as riding a bike!). The fact that they doll out espressos before their morning rides might have even sold me. Watch out Sydney, you might have another BMX Bandit on your roads.
