Great food atmosphere and service. Expensive or eat on a budget, they cater for everyone, but one thing they don’t skimp on is quality. Love it every time

Classic Aussie Country Homestead, lots of potential sadly LOST within Real Estate development and taste. Okay, it will take a while to get there, that’s okay… after all, I drove all the way to Gunbower(3.5 hrs from Melbourne) for a piece of steak… a VERY nice one I must add. After winding through this new, modern real estate development, I finally saw the stunning farm house within the paddock, could only imagine how much more prominent this house used to be on the paddock. First impression, great conversion, most of those heritage elements still there; farm fence, water tank, corrugated iron roof, blue stone wall, timber porch/veranda, post & lintel and a big heavy front door that leads to the high ceiling hallway… that home feeling still. Second impression: lacking that country warm welcome, not sure whether they are short of staff, we’ve booked and there were missing orders and delays. Lastly, I’m there for the food, with the price that they are charging«big breakfast» did not impress me, very ordinary, lack of seasoning and presentation, however those muffins, croissants, and cakes did. Coffee is average too. Maybe I’ll drive another hour for dinner next time, I hope by then they will up the ante. Lots of unfulfilled potential.

Brilliant, real food. Not reliant on the deep fryer, or baskets of bread. Delicious fresh food, always seasonal and cooked with skill and care. Service attentive but never intrusive. Delighted to see gluten free options dominating the menu. Fantastic wines. Intimate dining rooms. We will return.

Came here for breakfast/brunch. Charming setting — did not expect to see a homestead in the middle of the suburbs. Quaint and rustic décor, chill atmosphere. Food was amazing — homemade granola is a must try. The other selections were all delicious as well– I had the French toast and also tried the amazing avocado and poached egg. We also ordered fresh juice which was given two thumbs up by all. Friendly staff and good service here. Nice views outside — outdoor seating available. Will most definitely return.

A beautiful location but the food seemed to be a little too complicated. Almost as though they were trying too hard. The fish and chips was so salty and the whiting fillet was singular and small with a massive quinoa salad that was full of cold root vegetables. I am sure someone things that this is a work of art but, I went here for a meal! In contrast, the quesadilla was very plain and tasted bland. Although it was served on a slab of wood… again with the art! The dessert I had was served in a jam jar and was the highlight of our meal. It was a trifle, type, arrangement with cream, biscuit and fruit. Delicious. A short walk round the grounds revealed the site of Melbourne’s first mill. It was water powered and the remnants are still there by the river. There is a wonderful history here. The homestead which serves as the restaurant has potential. Come for the local history but prepared to be underwhelmed by the food.

Hooray! Real grown up food out here in the north! This grazing menu was brilliant, especially given the minimum serve is two prople rather than four like a lot of places. The chefs selection of tapas, pintxos and raciones was awesome, patatas bravado was the simplest but best :)
