I had a sushi bento and it was delicious. Wide variety of sushi and bentos available. I recommend it. I also liked the outdoor seating.

I had very delicious Sushi at this place. The price is similar to all the other places I’ve seen.

One thing people have to understand about chains is that they can still vary from one place to another. For instance, I rated the Sushi Sushi over at Victoria Gardens 5 stars. They have legitimately fucking incredible sushi at that establishment. Unfortunately, this sushi spot does not live up to the standards of the Sushi Sushi name. Food: ~ Teriyaki Salmon Nigiri — I’m not sure if this is what it’s properly called, but it looks like nigiri except with teriyaki salmon on top. Why is it that the salmon comes out consistently tasting burnt and charred? It’s gross and completely offputting. In contrast, the establishment at Victoria Gardens cooks it perfectly and even leaving it a little bit raw on the edges for a perfect combination of cooked salmon and the tenderness of sashimi. ~ Seafood Inari — Another one of my typically favourite dishes, but it just always turns out bland here and the crab pieces are cut way too thick. ~ Raw Salmon Roll — Holy shit I bit into it and there was a massive chunk of inedible salmon fat. I love sashimi and the taste of raw salmon, but please cut it properly and don’t leave fat hanging out, stuff it in the middle of your sushi, and pretend everything’s okay. — Especially when I normally come to this place early in the morning before work, I would think that everything would be made fresh and ready to go. Instead, everything tastes like a bit of horse cock. No thanks. The only good thing about this place is the ample outdoor seating.

Sushi Sushi could not be any more perfect for lunch on the go. Cheap and fresh, it offers a wide variety of Japanese delights such as hand rolls, inari and nigiri. The range is a whole lot more extensive than your standard city fare, with anything from cucumber and avocado to your more exotic mixes such as tempura prawn and teriyaki chicken. While it seems that pretty much every corner in Melbourne houses a sushi stall, this is the place to go if you’re sick of the limp seaweed and dry rice that all too often passes as authentic Japanese. While Sushi Sushi may be a chain, the quality hasn’t suffered, with the Swanston street store featuring a newly designed layout that might even tempt you to stay awhile.
