Red Rock Express is my choice of the various fast food noodle places, they really are fast, and the food is quite tasty. I feel some of their competitors are afraid to really put much flavour in their dishes to keep the widest market appeal, whereas Red Rock Express stay much closer to the full restaurant offerings of their larger stores. I’m also pleased to see these guys don’t scrimp on the ingredients — in a time where many places offer a ‘double meat’ option which you pretty much have to add on to get a satisfying meal, the servings here are generous and you feel like you get good value for money. There’s off street parking out the back — turn to the left just after the Portrush road lights. You’ll need to do the block to get there from the East, you can’t cross Lower North East Road at the shop.

Back in my days reviewing video games and staying up till the wee small hours getting finger cramps, I used to head around to Red Rock Express to stock up on spicy energy. The location used to be the host of the local KFC, and the inner décor hasn’t changed too much… neither has the service. Fast is the word and before you have finished flicking through your first Womens Day from 2003 your order is sitting on the counter waiting for you. Michelle M is pretty close to the mark though, there are some dodgey items of the menu, but you can find some steady gems! The satay noodles are pretty darn good, but the Tom Yum Soup is the Bomb! I would avoid spilling it on your lap when driving home though… that sucker is hella hot! Oh, and in case you were wondering, I still play games until the sun comes up, I just don’t get paid anymore and I don’t live with my parents!

It sure is quick and it sure is inexpensive, but unlike many I’m not so keen on the fast and cheap cultural norms of today(in more ways than one). The only thing I eat here are the chicken cold rolls, narrowed down after various disappointing try-outs of other menu items. In a nutshell-jump on the less than awesome express!
