I love this little coffee place. Full of your Nana’s old furniture, the place is comfy and homey. Great retreat to wind down in bustling Leederville, right on the strip. The food and drinks are awesome. The staff are friendly and are happy for you to linger over your coffee or tea. It’s a favourite haunt of mine when I’ve got stacks of work to do and need a place to caffeinate! The only downside? They don’t(or didn’t when I was there last). But there’s conveniently an ATM right outside!

This café gives me nostalgic yearnings for my Nana’s house. Everywhere I look, there are dishes, tea containers, teapots, chairs and tables that take me back thirty years to an old house full of love in City Beach. ‘Cluttered chic’ is what I would call the décor and design… and I love it. The food is good — sandwiches, sweets, bagels and pastries just waiting for selection behind the glass — and the coffee is piping hot and kindly made by friendly staff at the laden counters. Tip: if you arrive at 7.30am, the raspberry chocolate muffins are not long out of the oven and the chocolate chips are still molten inside them. Yum…

One of the four main cafés on the strip in Leederville, this place has definitely gone downhill in customer service. Upon approaching the counter, I got the sense that we were taking too long to pick our tea, based on the staff member’s body language behind the counter. Once we did place our order, presentation of my chocolate brownie was pretty poor(she put a fork into it for me); etiquette fail 101. The most disappointing thing was that the staff cut the music off 30 mins prior to close, and then outright turned off nearly all the lights 20 mins prior to close. I don’t think I’ll frequent this establishment anymore. It’s been a slow descent for this place. Unfortunately, Leederville doesn’t boast many decent cafés open in the evenings either. Perhaps try Highgate or Mount Lawley if you’re looking for good coffee with great customer service.

Unfortunately I find this place to be way too inconsistent in terms of customer service and coffee. I feel like the coffee is going downhill. Also, on a number of occasions I’ve walked in when you must be closing up shop, this usually is not obvious, especially when your doors are still open and diners are still inside, so please try to be more polite and respectful when letting customers know you’re closed. There are many other places in Leederville with great service and coffee.

Cute, funky little place with so much tea to choose from. Haven’t tried the food but it always looks amazing.

I’m sure whoever decorated this place must have raided my great-grandma’s place because I swear half her furniture is in this joint. It’s hard not to feel at home in 50ml which exudes a quirky charm, from the strainers covering the lights and the enormous homemade cakes to the grannyesque furniture. The food on the menu is homey, and the view to be had out the front of the café makes for excellent people-watching. Recently, I’ve found the music too loud for comfortable conversation and the coffee has varied a little in quality, which is sad because I used to find every single cup spot on, but I still really like 50ml as a place to meet up with friends, especially before movies at the Luna.

Baked eggs are so great and reasonably priced. s Cash only though so make sure you have some coin on you, there are various ATM in the same block so easy to get some money out if you need too. Staff were friendly. Coffee delicious. A range of baked goods a ready in the cabinet. Menu is very basic, baked eggs, toast, muesli and yoghurt.

As much as I love the funky interior design and comfortable-ness of 50ml. I have indeed experienced better. For one I am going to say the service is near appalling, they are neither helpful or professional towards customers. I wouldn’t expect it to be like a high tea however serving customers with some respect would be appreciated. The range of cakes and teas is extensive however the tea only smells like the brew. and the taste is just bland. all in all 50ml wasn’t what I expected it be. better luck next time?

Breaky this morning at 50ml. Cute décor and mis matching furniture. Definitely another Leederville café, trendy and hipster. But the staff aren’t overly friendly and the food is ok. We had vego pizza and gluten free banana bread with coffees. I must say the banana bread was so delicious, and I will be returning for this. The coffee was good too. The pizzas ok. Has a good selection of sandwiches, pizzas, cakes and brownies. Does have a breakfast menu ranging from muesli to a variety of different baked eggs up to about $ 12.

The place is pretty cool with a great selection of coffee and cakes. Sadly it’s consistently let down by service. 20 minutes to get a coffee out, without an apology. 15 mins into looking around for it we get a «it’s coming». This standard of service is pretty typical here. It regularly gives the place a negative vibe.

A bit of a find when meting a business contact. Really liked the grandma’s kitchen vibe about it. Big long tables, great for business meetings to spread out all your papers. Ice chocolate was tasty and full of all the bad stuff — ice cream and cream. Quick and welcoming service, would certainly go again.

Tea drinkers? This is your place. I can spend 15 minutes just staring at their tea selection. Try the lychee black tea iced – really nice afternoon pick me up. 50 mL has the best seating of the places at Leederville. There always is enough indoor and outdoor seating with a nice view. I tried the chocolate mud cake and the frosting was delicious although the cake itself was a bit dry and dense.

This is what a café should be, not bad coffee and awesome atmosphere. It would be a 5 if I hadn’t had better coffee before, but i do. :p

Did not enjoy this! The two slices of cake we received were so dry and stale. I tried soaking some of the cakes in a teaspoon of hot chocolate but it was still inedible. Strangely the genius idea didn’t work. I asked them to microwave the slice to soften up the rock hard cake. Nope. It didn’t work. Will not be returning.

This long narrow café has a very eclectic vibe. One wall has every inch covered in bits of framed low-brow art, and red colanders adorn the ceiling as lamp shades. The menu is very limited and consists of pre-made sandwiches and a few hot meals. Heaps of scrumptious looking cakes, a few of the cakes are baked in house including their beetroot and chocolate cake, which looked great. Adding some salads to the menu would be very warmly welcomed by me, especially during spring and summer. The coffee was great and they have quite a few teas to choose from. The staff were friendly and funny too. Probably my favourite place to sit and have a hot bevvie and get laid back in Leederville.

I’m not sure what to make of this little sliver in the wall on Oxford Street. It is definitely not unique as the trend these days is to open or even attend the kitsch cafes that are popping up all over the place(this is not a complaint, the more the merrier). It does have a great variety of sweet delights and even some nostaligic rice crispy buns and cornflake buns but are lacking somewhat in the savoury options. The seating is sporadic but no necessarily comfortable and I have found the service to be a little inconsistent. Regardless, not a bad spot to catch up over a coffee and an old school marble cake and you won’t be waiting as long as you would at Greens & Co on a busy afternoon.

I can see the mood this café is trying to capture, but that’s just the problem, it seems forced and not lived-in at all. Pink plastic strainers re-worked into light shades, old worn lounge chairs, cutesy wall hangings and floral tea sets; it’s that kitschy, granny-chic look again. On the upside, they do offer something different in the way of cakes; swirly marble cake, raspberry ripple and Jaffa; the sorts of flavour my Gran would have baked in the 50s and 60s. I can confirm the marble cake taste lives up to its looks and there’s a lot more homemade love than across the road at Greens & Co. The service is a bit cagey and the atmosphere is not as inviting as it should be; it all rolls back to that forced aesthetic thing…

Running in here to meet some friends for coffee before a film I breezed past the décor, staff and patrons. Once I’d sat down at the back and unloaded my day, I took a breath, leaned back in my seat and looked around me. My friends expressions showed they were waiting my opinion, and were not disappointed when my first comment was«oh how ironic, putting the lampshades of the lamp right next to lamp». Not to be completely put down, I enjoyed my tea and the cakes looked nice, but it seemed to be trying to hard. The furniture was a little too second hand to be chic, and why there are bright red laundry baskets stuck to the roof I really have no idea. I think it’s really just a mixture of too many ideas, there is Asian paraphernalia all over the show, mixed with classic paintings that have the menu scribbled on them, vintage looking furniture and modern wall murals, I think maybe one idea needs to win. I appreciate the confidence of somebody setting up another café in Leederville the Café centre of Perth, but it’s a shame it’s not quite enough to rival the familiarity and comfortable couches of other places. I will continue going back though and hopefully there will be little changes each time so I might one day be convinced.

50ml is the newest kid on the Oxford Street block, and it’s a quirky place that focuses on coffee, tea and cakes. The décor is cute, if a little overdone and self-conscious on the«quirky» meter — for instance, plastic baskets have been reworked into light shades and covers, which is amusing but looks odd when compared to the beautiful mural of a woman against one wall. There is also a jumble of old furniture that makes up the seating at 50ml, which gives the café a shambolic charm. 50ml is somewhat overpriced — $ 8.50 for a slice of cake seems somewhat exorbitant, even though the cakes for sale looked very nice and moist. The coffee is good, with a nice flavour, although the cappuccino seemed more like a flat white as it had very little chocolate. Overall, 50ml is an interesting addition to Oxford Street, although they may need to alter their approach and prices. At the moment, there are better places for a cappuccino and cake.

Wanna know what is really grinding my gears at the moment? Niche cafes that are popping up all around Perth who think they can charge $ 4 for a tiny macaron just because they have quirky furniture. NO! YOUCANNOTCHARGE $ 4 A MACARONUNLESSYOUARE A PATISSERIEINFRANCE. When the waitress at 50ml told me that’s how much I would have to pay I stood there with my jaw on the floor. So we decided to split a pot of Chai tea and a slab of chocolate marble cake, which came to $ 14. Not too bad, right? Ok, fine you’ve got me. The cake was amazing, yes. And so was the chai. But I’m still hung up on the macaroons. It was a sweet spot. Right on Oxford street, next to San Churro’s and across from the Burger Bistro. It was in and amongst it. What I found intimidating was that there were chairs out the front facing the street so you have to casually walk past some dude and his girlfriend having a tea. It’s a tiny store but I must admit I love the quirkiness of it. I was so tempted to put the teacups in my bag– I didn’t so no need to dob me in to the authorities.
