Loved the classic games provided like Jenga and Guess Who, I had the mushroom burger and the cold press tropical juice. Juice was refreshing but was too orangey. Mushroom burger was juicy and the beetroot relish was yummy! Bread was slight dry, making me assume that it was old? Compared to chain stores like Grill’d, I prefer Grill’d’s mushroom burger. Still, The Local Shack is a pretty chilled place, loved the concept but needs some fine tuning with the food!

Wow! What a great place. Great food, fabulous service and a fun vibe in a well themed and busy burger joint. After a bit of shopping my friend and I shared a jug of delicious sangria, some Mexicana and chicken sliders with some of the best herb chips in town. Great to see a fun and well styled venue that also provides great friendly service and a menu that will certainly make us return for more.

The first time I went to the local shack was in Scarborough, I loved it! But the one in Joondalup I’ve been twice but I can’t seem to love it even though I want to so badly! The service was so so so bad we had to wait such a long time to order even with the staff constantly walking past us! We had to call out to order! When we finally did the food wasn’t too bad at all but the serving was so small! The prices are average but again serving size is small! Probably won’t be returning for a little while

Where else can you get cider with breakfast at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon? The local shack feels like beachside backpacker joint but it’s in the middle of a suburban shopping Centre. With a mix of all day breakfast and burgers there are plenty of options. The sweet potato wedges are delicious and even better when covered in Mexican fixings. The staff are responsive and helpful plus with jenga and other games on the tables you won’t get bored waiting for your food.

Awesome environment. Food was served so quickly and tasted very fresh and worth the very fair prices. A little slow to take orders after we sat down but otherwise, it’s a great place to eat.

I’m constantly coming back to this burger bar located in the upper food court at Lakeside. Don’t get me wrong, its nothing overly unique but I have enjoyed all the burgers I have tried, especially the vegetarian options and also can’t go past an $ 8 pint of Tiger. They have also recently updated their menu and I really enjoy the sweet potato chips or the mexican chips! Downside is that they only have Tiger on tap but they have a selection of other beers and ciders available in bottles along with adult milkshakes and cocktails.

Very good burgers, friendly staff, nice ambience and lighting. On the grill and the Chicken Parma are remarkable. Good music, excellent overall experience for an in shopping centre restaurant. Well done!

Looks can be incredibly deceiving. The Local Shack presents well but the food is sadly disappointing. I came here with two friends, our order– bacon and eggs(requested eggs to be runny), nachos and a burger. The eggs were hard boiled, the nachos came with jalapeños when requested without and the burger was sloppy. The nachos and bacon and eggs were taken back to the kitchen, in its replacement, runny eggs on bread(not toast), and the nachos came back with what looked like a snow covered plate of sour cream. The politer one of us made do with her burger, however, left 80% of it on the plate. After letting the manager know of our unpleasant experience he offered cocktails which were bitterly sweet. The food was absolutely terrible, and the manager made us feel as though we should’ve been grateful to even receive cocktails that were undrinkable. Furthermore, he wasn’t accommodating and lacked major costumer service skills. We’ve all experienced bad food from time to time, however, this place takes the cake.

Very average. I’ve been here twice now, and I just can’t get to love this place. Their burgers, no matter how hard they try, are just disappointing. The point of a good burger is to celebrate the meat, which is the hero of the dish. Sadly, their method of construction means that the flavour of the meat is lost in, and overpowered by the rest of the filling. The only positive thing about the burger is the bun, which is a Turkish bun which holds up through the eating. Even the bun however lets it down, being too big for the contents — making it look pretty mediocre. It’s a mediocre package that doesn’t make you want to shout about this place from the rooftops to your friends. Mercifully, their beer battered chips are quite decent, but that still isn’t enough to distract from what by all accounts is a disappointing burger. Then there’s the décor, which is more like a dingy beach-side dive bar, which tries to look rustic and recycled — but just looks like a cheap copy. Service is also inconsistent, some times they’re on the ball, others they aren’t. And really, this isn’t the kind of place you’re going to want to have a conversation with the staff, it’s part of a food court — you’re here to order, get your meal, have a chat with anyone who’s joined you, and leave when you’re done. You don’t want a 5min conversation at the register when you go to pay — this isn’t that kind of place. If you really want a burger around this area, my honest recommendation is to skip the Shack, and walk downstairs to Grill’d. Sure, the Local Shack may have better chips, but when you’re there to order a burger — you want something which will make you say wow afterwards, and Grill’d always hits that every time. Overall, it leaves me feeling that this place has ideas above its station. It needs to come back down to earth and focus on the basics if it has any chance of surviving.
