I don’t write bad reviews very often. Though avoid! Bad prices and food that is not what it says on the menu! There are better options around the area of Ivanhoe.

This is a fabulous, family run gem in Ivanhoe. With an extensive and changing menu, a really wonderful team in the kitchen and flawless front of house staff. We are very lucky to have such a high quality place to dine in our local area.
The kitchen, sources the best produce and creates an amazing menu of items you can expect all year round; such as delicious pizza and calzone, authentic gyoza and dumplings, amazing steaks always cooked to perfection; and then adds some incredible seasonal specials with beautiful seafood and zucchini flowers and figs to name a few.
You can always rely on attentive service from the front of house staff.
From a casual lunch to a special occasion, Va Tutto never disappoints.

re: The Bistro: When it’s good it’s really good but it can be a bit erratic. Lots of staff and an extensive menu possibly stretch quality control. We’ve had some fantastic fusion seafood dishes here, and some disappointments.

Quality quality quality. Fresh produce, extensive menu, very good portion sizes.
Service was excellent helped I think by my bestie being well known and frequent diner to this restaurant.
That being said, other patrons were well attended even with a function in the private dining room.
$ 150 for two — 3 courses each with a glass of wine.

I have dined in the bistro and in the restaurant and found both to be excellent. The menu is a mix of Australian, Italian and Asian dishes. They are friendly to babies in prams. Magnificent wine and dessert selection.
On Saturday nights the service levels suffer a wee bit, but that is mostly due to their popularity. Go there, you’ll like it.

Went here again and a much better experience. Good service and good food. The menu is extensive and that can be overwhelming but there are core ingredients used in different ways. Nice specials offered each evening. I am pleased I have been back and I hope my next experience is positive too.

I’ve eaten here four or five times in the fine dining area over a few years in my experience it’s declining.
They have an excellent menu and when it’s good, it’s VERY good, but at times it can be a miss as well. For the price, I can’t afford it not to be spot on every time.
It’s been a while since it was fitted out and the chairs and surrounds are just starting to feel a bit grubby — again, not quite the polished experience it was a few years ago.
Positives — excellent menu and extensive wine list, when the food is good it’s exceptional, polished service.
Negatives — Food can be a miss, for a table of four, there will be one meal that’s not the right temperature, too tough, or just not at the quality you expect for the price. Gets extremely busy and can feel rushed. The environment looks great on the surface, but you get the sense it’s all a bit worn out after a long period since the last fit out and it’s due a refresh.
Worth a go once, your mileage may vary, but for mine — I can do better for the money.

Much like this review, this restaurant is has two separate and distinct dining area’s. Each side of the fully stocked bar is a completely different experience. Which ever side you chose though, be assured that you will receive fantastic service and delicious food.
Dining Room
This is where you head for a special occasion dinner or if you enjoy fine dining (with matching prices.) It is a perfect anniversary type affair. For my everyday dining needs though I find it too pretentious, but I’m more your quirky and casual type anyway. Options include duck and ocean tasting plates and Angus beef fillets. The food is suitably well considered and you can select your wine to match your meal from a varied list. It is a fantastic fine dining experience.
Bistro
The bistro is more my speed. Casual setting but same great quality food, in fact many dishes from the restaurant are mixed into the bistro menu. The menu here retains style but includes family friendly options such as pizza, but amazing pizza. Every single dish on the menu is first rate delicious I’m not a fan of televisions in restaurants and this one is no exception.
Va Tutto offers great, no fantastic food and polished service. It is extremely popular and people cross Melbourne for certain dishes. So book ahead, this restaurant stands out among the varies dining options in the Ivanhoe precinct.
