My advice: don’t order anything from Café Le Net before a movie, or at least give yourself a half-hour buffer zone. On my most recent visit, despite being not very busy(about three other patrons), the staff told me the coffee I’d ordered would be coming right up, but that they were busy. I was sort of shifting my feet after hearing this; I wanted to be back at the cinema. I figured a coffee and a slice from the window would take maybe 5 minutes, tops. I had 15 minutes to make it back before I could reasonably expect the movie to start. I’m not sure whether they forgot my order, but ten minutes passed as I stood in plain view, eating the slice, standing up, as I waited. Somehow, psychologically, I managed to convince myself that by standing up and looking impatient I would get my coffee quicker. But we all know that a watched pot never boils.(I get the expression, but I’m not really convinced by this phrase. Maybe the watched pot needs to be checked that it’s plugged into the wall. Or have you tried turning it off and on again?) A little after 15 minutes had passed, I finally got eye contact from a staff member, who casually said, «Sorry about the wait,» and handed me my coffee.(The coffee itself was alright, actually.) I shouldn’t have pushed myself for time, but 15 minutes for a coffee. At least four staff members working. Come on. Since they’ve installed a coffee kiosk at Event Cinema, I now go there instead for my cinema drink.(Coffee is good at any time.)

Back in the day, Café Le Net was a conveniently placed Internet café situated in the Indooroopilly shopping centre. Now that everybody owns smart-phones and internet booths have been introduced to the shopping centre, it has some-what lost its purpose. At least it still serves coffee and food though and because it is right next to the cinema’s it is good place to kill time before seeing a film. To be honest, I have only had coffee here and unlike Rafaela, I do not remember it being too bitter; it was just your standard coffee really. One good thing about Café Le Net is that it never seems to be too busy which is great if you want to enjoy some peace and quiet before seeing a film. The service is fairly standard; nothing spectacular but not bad either. There isn’t much else to say about Café Le Net, Internet Cafes are not in vogue anymore but at least Café Le Net has stayed alive to offer us a cuppa before seeing a film.

This is a nice and convenient little café located right in front of Event Cinemas and near the Indooroopilly library. As the name would suggest, you get free wi-fi. If you didn’t figure that out prior to sitting in there, you will end up finding a cheaply printed leaflet informing you of the free wi-fi on the table. Again, this café serves for convenience and not really to create an intimate setting. It’s handy for if you wanted to book for your movies online or if you want a break from the library to have a coffee. I found the chairs to be really tiny– not enough butt space. No! I do not have a large derrière, it’s the chairs, the chairs! Simple dining furniture, but, comfortable enough. The service is okay. The staff are nice and friendly, however, there has been a time when a complete order was forgotten. We sat there waiting, only to realise they had forgotten it. That was a bit annoying, especially because we were waiting for our movie to start. Needless to say, as soon as it arrived, that poor recipient friend of ours was rushed to drink the coffee and eat the muffin and get out in time for the movie to start. For convenience, I would still consider it a good spot.

Café le Net is ideally situated in the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre on the top floor, next to the Event Cinemas. I tried this café out after seeing a film with some friends, allowing us to chat about the movie and relax and socialise for a little bit. The décor of what is currently Twighlight: Breaking Dawn Posters suited this well. Unfortunately the coffee, like the Twighlight movie I had just seen, was a little hard to swallow. I prefer my coffee a little less bitter. However, the coffee was served to us with a big, friendly smile. :-D Apparently, as the name somewhat suggests, there is free Wi-Fi available here which I may one day soon take advantage of. Café le Net is comfortable and convenient but that is about all.
