In despair at the mediocrity of the Indian joints in my immediate vicinity, I recently tried out A Taste of Bollywood. They sucked me in with free delivery! Let me first say: they have a *salad*. Yes, that is right, you can get something fresh and with fibre with your takeaway. This is a blessing — I am so tired of eating greasy curry gravies without at least a few bits of cucumber and lettuce to wash it down with. The prices are pretty damn cheap and the menu is fairly standard Indian takeaway fare. Butter chicken, madras, masala, fish malabar etc. They do however have lamb biriyani, which is something you can’t get everywhere. The main two issues I have with most Indian takeaway is a lack of proper herbs, spices and veg in curries and disgustingly greasy food. A Taste of Bollywood passes these tests — I can do without a layer of orange oil on top of my curry. I would recommend the saags, and the fish curry here.
