We missed out in getting a table few months back on a Saturday evening, so we returned this early Saturday evening at 5.30pm without booking. We were told that they can fit us in as long as we leave by 7pm. Since we were there, might as well have a quick meal. We asked for the recommended dishes, the lamb rack massamum curry and a crispy eggplant salad were offered. Sounded reasonable choices and we accepted Bottle of cold water appeared soon after the order was taken and food came along not long after Staff were friendly enough and kept on checking if everything was ok, felt like either they are genuine or just want us out of the door by 7pm The curry was a disappointment as it didn’t really have any ‘kick’ and the crispy eggplant were rather ‘oily’ even though the salad was fresh but not much ‘bite’ in the dressing for a Thai dressing Perhaps we should have been asked how ‘hot’ we would like our dishes. We left before 7pm but am not sure if I’ll rush back.

I miss working right next door to this place… my waistline doesn’t though!!! I can’t complain though — I’m now only a 10 minute walk down the road, so still super close! I’ve only ever ordered at lunch but their lunch menu is super extensive with everything around the $ 12 mark and very very decent serves, there isn’t much to complain about! Usually very quiet at lunch time, this may be off putting but it’s great to have some peace and quiet! My two favs are the choo chee chicken and the laksa, which have never let me down!

I found out about Mango Tree through a workmate who’d worked here for a short time and was really surprised when we dined in one night before heading out. Parkings a breeze either on Port Road itself or in the parking island in the middle of the road. Otherwise it’s a ten minute walk from the last tram station by the Entertainment Centre. The restaurant is set neatly with minimal frills. It gets packed out on weekends so pop in early if you’re after a table. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. Drinks list is a bit limited. Pricing is pretty spot on given the quality of food along with speed of service. I’ve had a fair few items of the menu across when I’ve eaten in and grabbed takeaway once from here. The mieng kam was great, the fish cakes much the same. Serving sizes are a touch on the small side entrée wise, likely not be a problem if you’re not overly hungry like I was on one visit. Larb gai probably the best I’ve had in Adelaide to date, one of my favourite dishes when done right. Thai beef salad was nice too. Red curries are pretty spot on, slightly on the small side again on one occasion — when we dined in, pretty generous another when we picked up. Good amount of heat. Great for a quick meal, takeaway or bookings for larger tables. Recommended.
