Blood donation is a very worthwhile cause. One donation can literally save someone’s life, either from a critical injury leading to massive blood loss, to those needing blood to deal with a chronic condition. The major motivator for me to donate blood was after hearing that my [now deceased] grandmother requiring blood transfusions during her illness. Without the blood donations, my grandmother would not have lived as long, and would not have been able to fulfill some of her wishes. So, I went to donate blood at the centre in Hillarys. The experience was, unfortunately, rather perturbing because the staff firstly inserted the needle wrongly, which then meant a second attempt on my other arm. Eventually, I did manage to donate blood, and got my complimentary tea and biscuits afterwards. I also found out my blood type. Overall, this is a worthwhile cause and should be done at least once by everyone.
